Gamble Pit http://www.gamblepit.net Gambling to the Max! Tue, 17 Nov 2009 07:06:48 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.8.6 en hourly 1 Nuno Coelho http://www.gamblepit.net/nuno-coelho/ http://www.gamblepit.net/nuno-coelho/#comments Thu, 12 Nov 2009 03:53:20 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=403 nuno coelhoNuno Coelho is a corporate lawyer by profession, and he would find himself turning to different games like poker to release some of the corporate stress. It was a hobby that he developed so that he could relax and find some time to get out of the workplace and the never ending load of work. After a while, Nuno was hooked to poker and started to realize that the game was taking up a lot og his spare time – and sometimes, even his work time! He affectionately called it a 2nd job, considering the hours he clocked in as well as the money he earned from playing. He had always loved mentally challenging games of logic and numbers. If that wasn’t the ingredients for a perfect match with the game, his degree in law school plays a role in helping him read the body language and habits of the other players.

Even though Nuno was able to secure victories here and there during poker tournaments and online poker rooms, he still found himself waiting for that one competition or victory that would jumpstart his career as a professional poker player. He has won several of his home country’s local tournaments, but what placed his name up there was the fifth place finish that he helped to secure with his other teammates when they represented Team Portugal during the PokerStars World Cup of Poker championship back in 2007. The first place trophy went to Team USA.

When not hitting up the world’s poker tables, Nuno is a fan of both fictional and non fictional literature, especially documented stories about the lives of people. He is very interested with a person’s psyche and their ways of thinking. He also enjoys watching movies and playing with his pet dog during his spare time.

Ever since he was a child, he’s been a fan of various strategy games like Bridge. He moved to the US for the purpose of education, but it was a lesson on poker that had the most impact on him. He grew hooked on the game and started leaving his mark on different poker tournaments and events all over the country. During his free time, Luis would go to Atlantic City to play card games and practice his skills at gambling. AC provided beginners with good gambling opportunities because it followed the format of Las Vegas, but on a smaller scale. In fact, most professional poker players started playing here before graduating to Vegas. Luis was one of them. He made money regularly by playing poker, and inevitably he got better and better at the game.

During the years that followed, this renowned poker player was able to maintain his winning records throughout the world’s land casinos and online poker rooms. In the year 2000, he earned plenty of money during the Austrian Masters festival. In the year 2007, he was invited to be a part of the Portugal Team for a tournament sponsored PokerStars, a prestigious online poker site. The tournament was called the PokerStars World Cup of Poker and the team of Luis finished fifth. He has also had mounds of success playing in the casinos around Atlantic City, cashing in plenty of times. Aside from that, he has also cashed in big time at the local casinos of his home country.

When he’s not playing poker, Luis likes to engage in outdoor sports such as hiking and skiing. He also enjoys scuba diving in the world’s deep oceans. He loves to watch movies and relax in the company of his friends.

John Duthie http://www.gamblepit.net/john-duthie/ http://www.gamblepit.net/john-duthie/#comments Thu, 12 Nov 2009 03:50:11 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=399 John Duthie is a professional poker player of British roots. He was born and raised in the UK. He enjoyed his job as a producer and director of several notable UK television programs but his life took on a different career path shortly after the shows aired. John decided that he wanted to become a professional poker player and soon he was making waves in the European poker circuit. His name became famous throughout the poker world as one of the most talented and skilled players in the industry. PokerStars, the top online gaming site in the UK, owes the success of their European Poker Tour (EPT) to John, whose poker achievements are too many to enumerate.John Duthie

However, victory was not instantaneous for this poker star. As an amateur, he lost plenty of poker games and large amounts of his hard-earned cash practicing with his peers and sharpening his skills. He would spend a sleepless night or two studying the game and reading up on one how-to book after another. He also spent plenty of time in online poker rooms, training to be the best player he could be. Soon, he was showing the players what he was made of, and starting to rake in the cash for his bankroll. He pooled all his winnings together so that he could join a televised poker event during the year 2000. It all paid off because he took home a modest 1 million US dollars in cash for his victory.

In the World Series, he placed ninth and won 55,750 US dollars. He finished second at a World Series of Poker Heads-Up Championship event with a corresponding prize money of 386,636 US dollars. Online, he won a PokerStars Spring tournament and logged out 250,000 US dollars wealthier. John has not only made himself known in the poker world, but he was a force in making Europe the rival country of USA in the field of poker greats.

Hal Lubarsky http://www.gamblepit.net/hal-lubarsky/ http://www.gamblepit.net/hal-lubarsky/#comments Wed, 11 Nov 2009 03:37:39 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=372 Want to hear an interesting story? Well, this definitely belongs to one of those inspiring stories you could come upon so take read well. Leaving his hometown Brooklyn to relocate in Las Vegas was one of the biggest decisions Hal Lubarsky has to make in his life. hal lubarskyHe did this in order to pursue his career in poker. He was already making a name for himself at 29 years old. He is often seen playing H.O.R.S.E games, making it big in cash games too, playing alongside famous pro players. After 15 years of being a pro player, Hal’s career has suddenly halt to a stop when he began feeling the effects of the hereditary illness called retinus pigmentosa, a disease where the retina shows some abnormalities eventually leading to loss of sight. However, this disease is one of those types where the effect cannot be felt not until you have are in your early 40’s or 50’s. The disease manifested in Hal slowly, beginning from loss of peripheral vision until it all disappeared. Naturally, his poker career also stopped.

An invitation to a poker charity event led him back to the action of the game. Not because he accepted the invitation, he actually declined. But a close friend convinced him that he can still participate in games with the aid of someone who will tell him the card actions in the table. The card whisperer, it turned out was a poker dealer named Jo Adair, who whispers to Hal’s ears the action in the table. His comeback proved to be a successful one which inspired him to come back in the game. His biggest and notable appearance was in the World Series of Poker event where his request of joining the game was declined but after a good counterback from Lubarsky’s side, he was granted to play in the tournament with an aid. It was a divine moment for Hal. The world was able to watch him play in ESPN television where he was able to rank 197th earning a total of $51,398. Who says a blind man can’t join a poker tournament? Not Hal Lubarsky, no.

Marco Liesy http://www.gamblepit.net/marco-liesy/ http://www.gamblepit.net/marco-liesy/#comments Wed, 11 Nov 2009 03:37:04 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=370 Marco Liesy’s first knowledge in poker could be attributed from his father. As a young man, he grew up watching his father play the game and from being a mere audience of his father’s affair with the cards. With the basic knowledge he knows, he began playing it on his own. During those time, he was dividing his time in being a novice to a commercial salesman by day and by night, he practices poker by joining online games. At an early age, he has developed his skills in playing and winning poker that in no time it has become his full-time career.

marco_liesyA competitive player, Liesy soon was making waves in various events and tournaments. He began making appearances in European tournaments. He placed fourth in the 2005 Bodensee Poker Championship in the No Limit Hold’em Main Event, taking home a total earnings of $7,012. The following year, he fared even better in the Bregenz Open No Limit Hold’em event when he placed second overall, bagging $22,451 total earnings. But for the German pro, there is nothing more fleeting feeling than winning in your own continent, something that Liesy has been seriously working out. In the Season IV European Poker Tour German Open, Liesy managed to placed 16th overall in the EPT No Limit Hold’em taking home a total cash win of $29,030.

As for participating in the WSOP tournaments, his first WSOP in 2008 migh not resulted good for him but in the following year, Liesy has made a stunning performance, rising all the way from his 97th place from last year to 13th this year. When not playing poker, Marco likes traveling especially to his favorite place on earth: Bahamas. But even when he is traveling, he can still be found playing online at Full Tilt Poker, spreading some inspiration from anyone watching.

He was able to watch the television coverage of the World Poker Tour the year after the poker boom took place, in 2004, and since then, he has developed an interest in those games. He began practising the game by playing home games, and when he felt confident enough, he moved on to playing in online poker rooms to start building up his bankroll. He did this by joining the $0.10/$0.25 games before joining tournaments. He devoted all of his time to poker after he finished business school, beginning with playing the European poker circuit.

This young poker player began his professional career in The Hold’Em Series of the European Poker Masters Season 1 in 2006, and he was able to win this tournament, taking home with him $29,243. The year after, he joined the Irish Poker Championships and placed 2nd, winning $31,455. It is clear from these records that he was off to a very good start. A couple of weeks later, he joined the Scandinavian Open, one of the events at the European Poker Tour Season 3, and he won the tournament, putting him on the map as an up-and-coming poker player and giving his bankroll another $69,580. His biggest win was yet to come though, as he joined the European Poker Tour Grand Final two months after his big win at the Scandinavian Open. He placed third in this event, taking home with him $800,199. The following year, in 2008, he joined the World Series of Poker, where he won big again, placing 12th at the $107,802. So far he has made over $1.2 million in the tournaments that he has joined, and he is the sixth at the Denmark All-Time Money List. He has a long way to go, and more money to win, considering he is only twenty-one years old. He sure is someone who is proving his skill and his talent at the poker tables.

Erich Kollman http://www.gamblepit.net/erich-kollman/ http://www.gamblepit.net/erich-kollman/#comments Wed, 11 Nov 2009 03:13:09 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=365 His surname may have given him his nickname, “Coolman”, but Erich Kollman’s skill and talent in the green felt-covered poker tables make him one of the noteworthy players in the poker scene today.erich kollman

This professional poker player used to work in BMW before he began playing poker full-time professionally. Do not take him for a novice, though – he has played poker for many years before going pro. He has been playing poker for over twenty years on the side, but he only decided to leave his job at BMW in 2005 to finally play poker full-time. Sure enough, this decision brought him to fame as a leading poker player in the scene today.

Given his history with playing poker even before playing full-time, he has already established his name in tournaments that he was able to participate in before 2005. He has been joining tournaments since 2000, already winning big during his early days. He participated in the Austrian Masters and the Vienna Festival mostly, winning as much as over $30,000 for a tournament. His first international success was at the Aussie Millions in 2003, where he placed eighth in the final table and he was able to take home more than $25,000. Three years later, he placed 17th at the World Series of Poker, where he took home over $13,000. He has gone on to participate in several other tournaments as well, even making his return to the Aussie Millions in 2008 and cashing in on several events for that tournament. As of 2009, he has made over $880,000, and with eleven first-place finishes and eighty-six money wins to his name, he sure is one of the more remarkable poker players in the field today. His ambition, he says, is to win in one of the tournaments in the European Poker Tour. With his talent, he sure is on his way to that dream.

It was through this loss that Argyros, a Melbourne-based player, started developing interest in the world of poker. He studied the game and developed  his own tactics, which he practiced in low-stakes games until he got better and better. James Akenhead http://www.gamblepit.net/james-akenhead/ http://www.gamblepit.net/james-akenhead/#comments Fri, 06 Nov 2009 02:56:23 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=349 James Akenhead may be relatively new to the poker scene, but he is no stranger to professional gaming. Before starting his career as a professional poker player, Akenhead was a professional pool player, and so his development of interest on a professional level in a game such as poker does not come as a surprise at all. He was also a railroad conductor before he discovered poker. Still, when he discovered the game, he was hooked instantly, and he spent his days learning about the game and all of its ins and outs.James Akenhead

Akenhead first entered the professional poker playing scene in 2005, and for awhile he was only winning relatively meager amounts of money here and there. His first experience of a big win was in 2008, when he placed third at the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, winning $44,290. Just two weeks after that, he achieved the win that would put him on the spotlight. He achieved his biggest win to date at the World Series of Poker, taking home $520,219 for finishing at second place in their No Limit Hold’em event. He continued to join different tournaments, going back to the GUKPT several times. He also participated in the PokerStars European Poker Tour in early 2009, though he did not make as significant an amount as he did at the WSOP the year before, only winning $12,500 for placing lower. Afterwards, he proved yet again that he is worthy of the attention, as he won $108,360 for placing ninth at the World Series of Poker in the WSOP Europe’s No Limit Hold’em Main Event. Today he has a record of twenty-one money finishes in his record, only two of which came from the World Series of Poker, but he is only beginning his poker playing career. Since his breakout performance in 2008, he has made a total of over $800,000, and he is sure bound to make more as he perfects his game.

He joined the Tournament of Champions, a Circuit Event in the World Series of Poker and placed ninth, taking $25,000 home on the 8th of November that year. Patrik Antonius http://www.gamblepit.net/patrik-antonius/ http://www.gamblepit.net/patrik-antonius/#comments Fri, 06 Nov 2009 02:54:03 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=344 patrik antoniusFinnish poker player Patrik Antonius began his career not as a professional poker player, but as a tennis enthuse. He used to play tennis, and he even became a tennis coach, before he started playing poker for his profession. He also was a model in his previous years, with his stunning looks and a toned body from playing tennis making him a definite choice to be a model.

He came to the professional poker playing industry in 2002, and for three years he built up his skill set in the game of poker. His poker career began when he was first introduced to an online poker game, where he won a seat to the World Series of Poker. He then moved to Vegas to know more about poker, as well as to practice, and this was how he built up his skill set. He became a premiere player at The Bellagio soon afterwards, and the scene was like this for three years.

It was in 2005 when Antonius would start reaching a different height of fame for playing poker. He ranked high both in the World Poker Tour and the European Poker Tour early that year, ranking 15th and 12th, respectively.  He took home $40,000 for the WPT Bay 101 tournament and for the EPT, he took home $145,000. It was towards the end of 2005 that he made his biggest win to date, though. He joined the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic, and he won second place in their $15,000 Main Event. He ended up taking home $1,046,470 for that tournament.

Today Patrik Antonius has made more than $2.8 million. He has joined the WSOP, the WPT, and the EPT several times, and since he started playing in 2002 he has had twenty-one money finishes already. He has yet to win a WSOP bracelet, but with those winnings under his belt, and his charming looks, he is one of the most recognizable poker players today.

Victor Ramdin http://www.gamblepit.net/victor-ramdin/ http://www.gamblepit.net/victor-ramdin/#comments Thu, 05 Nov 2009 03:03:01 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=326 Victor RamdinVictor Ramdin picked a very good time to start playing poker, beginning just a year before Chris Moneymaker singlehandedly caused the poker industry to boom because of his victory. Before becoming a poker player, he was in the real estate business and was a very good salesman who came from the Bronx. He was introduced to poker by his friends, who taught him how to play the game after he saw them playing poker in a bar one night out.

He put his newfound knowledge to the test not by using it against his friends, but by facing the big guns at once. He learned about poker in 2002, and he joined the World Series of Poker Main Event just the year after, placing at 29th place and winning his first professional game winnings of $35,000. He was motivated to continue playing, and he joined other competitions like the Showdown At The Sands and the United States Poker Championship. He first joined in a World Poker Tour event in 2004. At the time, he was winning considerably significant amounts of money for each event, but he did not have an idea that just two years from then, he would make his biggest win to date.

In April of 2006, Ramdin found himself a millionaire, winning over $1.3 million in the World Poker Tour Foxwoods Poker Classic main event. He continues to participate in the World Series of Poker, the World Poker Tour, and the European Poker Tour to this day. When he is not playing, Ramdin is out doing charity work, going with doctors to needy countries like Guyana in order to help out the people who need medical treatment. He also donates a quarter of his earnings to charity – that is a considerably big amount, given that as of 2009 he has made over two and a half million dollars.

Hevad Khan http://www.gamblepit.net/hevad-khan/ http://www.gamblepit.net/hevad-khan/#comments Thu, 05 Nov 2009 03:01:51 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=324 Hevad KhanHevad Khan is no stranger to electronic gaming, having started to play real-time video game StarCraft when he was thirteen years old. The game required him to think of strategies and to be able to work with and against the people he is playing with, and so at an early age his skills at strategic planning have been trained already. As you may know, being very strategic with your moves is very important in playing poker.

Khan started in the poker world like most other players began these days – he played in online tournaments. These days there are two ways of getting into poker: the first one is to be introduced to the live games by family or friends; the second one is to discover the game through online gaming. He was good at the game, having played at different online casinos, sometimes more than one at a time in a given period. Khan dropped out of college in order to be able to play professionally, and this paid off very well, as he is now a member of Team PokerStars. He entered the mainstream live poker scene in 2007, and though he has not won any bracelets just yet, as of 2009 he has had eight money finishes. His joining the World Series Of Poker in 2007 Khan ended up winning $956,243, and that was only the beginning. Khan participated in the World Poker Tour and the European Poker tour as well, and in the two years that he has been in the mainstream poker circuit, he has made more than $2.2 million, half of which came from his cash-ins at the World Series of Poker alone.

If you are wondering why people in poker tables and casinos are not allowed to be “too celebratory” when they win a poker game, then you are looking for Hevad Khan. He is the reason for this rule, known as the Hevad Khan Rule, which requires poker players not to celebrate boisterously. This is because when he won in the 2007 WSOP event, he celebrated so loudly that the other players felt offended. The next time you face a poker table and you win big, think of Hevad Khan.

Ylon Schwartz http://www.gamblepit.net/ylon-schwartz/ http://www.gamblepit.net/ylon-schwartz/#comments Thu, 05 Nov 2009 02:58:09 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=322 Gaming has been in Ylon Schwartz’s system since his younger years. He is a chess master, after all – he started playing chess in his teens to make money. When he went to college, he was unmotivated, and ended up dropping out, only to find himself back on the streets playing chess with strangers for money. He also played backgammon for money as well. It was at chess that he excelled though, and he has been awarded the title of FIDE Master for having a ranking that is above 2300. Given this gambling and gaming background, it is no surprise that Schwartz found his way into the poker tables at the casinos.ylon schwartz

He began playing poker sometime at the turn of the century, and in the year 2000 he joined a poker tournament where he ended up winning $12,000, which was a far cry from the $100 – $340 that he would make for wagering on the street. He was able to use the techniques that he learned in his years of chess playing to improve his poker game, and he approached the game of poker mathematically. He saw the parallels between chess and poker, and he was able to use the timing and the memory skills that he had to be able to keep track of the cards and to determine when to bet and how much would be reasonable for his particular set of cards.

He started cashing in on his poker games in 2004, but it was in 2005 that he managed to win $25,000 at his first World Series of Poker experience. It only got better from there, as he joined the World Poker Finals, some PokerStars tournaments, and went back to the WSOP. His biggest win to date is in 2008, when he won $3,794,974 in the $10,000 main event of the World Series of Poker. He was in fourth place at that time. As of 2009, he has won more than $4.2 million, and he still continues to play to this day.

Tom McEvoy http://www.gamblepit.net/tom-mcevoy/ http://www.gamblepit.net/tom-mcevoy/#comments Thu, 05 Nov 2009 02:55:47 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=320 Before Tom McEvoy was a professional poker player, he was an accountant. He had a BS Honours degree in accountancy, and he saw himself in the profession for the duration of his life. About a decade into his career, however, he wanted to find other options, and so when he got laid off of his job in the seventies, he moved to playing poker for a living.tom mcevoy

He does not get as much press as Chris Moneymaker or Dennis Phillips, who are representations of the common man’s potential for success, but he is a very notable professional poker player, having won the World Series Of Poker bracelet four times. It was in 1983, five years after he started playing poker professionally, that he managed to win the WSOP main event and won his first WSOP bracelet. He holds the record as the first winner of the WSOP main event who was able to join the WSOP tournament by winning a seat from a satellite poker game. Most of his winnings come from th WSOP, but there is a part of his winnings that he got from the Professional Poker Tour, which he joined in 2005.

When he is not playing the game of poker, he has his hands full with other poker-related activities. He hosts no-smoking poker tournaments which attract poker players even with the smoking restriction. He is known for being anti-smoke and so he organized the tournament in 1998. This led to him convincing Becky Binion Benhen to make the WSOP a smoke-free tournament, which happened in 2002. In exchange for this favor, McEvoy taught Benhen how to play poker. Aside from protesting smoke, McEvoy also writes about poker during his spare time. He is the author of many books that give tips on poker games and that give insight on the history of poker, and he is quite respected in the field.

Dennis Phillips http://www.gamblepit.net/dennis-phillips/ http://www.gamblepit.net/dennis-phillips/#comments Thu, 05 Nov 2009 02:54:20 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=318 The good thing about poker is that anyone from any walk of life can learn the game, join in a table game, and win big, as long as he has the skills and the buy-in money. Dennis Phillips is one of those men. Before becoming a professional poker player, he worked Dennis Phillipsas an account manager for a commercial trucking company, Broadway Trucks. He only played poker on the side, and not even as a means of augmenting his income – he played poker on the side for entertainment purposes. He would join in different casino tournaments and online games and would win money wins every now and then, but he kept his poker exposure to this minimum until the year 2006.

2007 signaled a change for Phillips, who began participating in the bigger poker tournaments that are still out there today. He received his first exposure at the World Series of Poker Circuit event in Tunica, where he placed high although he did not win the significant amount of money that some other poker players won when they were starting out in the professional poker playing industry. He more than made up for this, though, when the following year, he placed third in the main event of the 2008 World Series of Poker. He won his seat in the WSOP in a $200 satellite game in an online casino, and he ended up taking home $4,517,773, his biggest win in a tournament to date. He has also participated in the European Poker Tour twice, and he has yet to participate in the World Poker Tour. Today, his total winnings for live tournaments reach more than $4,700,000.

When Phillips is not playing poker, he watches sports just like any other guy. He and another commoner-turned-poker prodigy Chris Moneymaker are the poster boys to common people making it big just because they played in online poker rooms and won seats to the major tournaments.

Gavin Griffin http://www.gamblepit.net/gavin-griffin/ http://www.gamblepit.net/gavin-griffin/#comments Thu, 05 Nov 2009 02:53:36 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=316 Gavin Griffin discovered poker when he was in college, studying Speech Pathology when he could have been studying anything else because he is a very intelligent person. Being able to determine the different speech patterns and tones of people would prove to be helpful for him later on, as today he is a well-known professional poker player in the world of poker. His days at the Texas Christian University were not exactly just strictly studying though – it was during his college days that he discovered the game of poker and it was then that he grew to love the game.gavin griffin

Griffin started playing poker when he was in college, but he did not start at casinos. Instead, he began by playing smaller games with his college friends. Defeats in these games led Griffin to study the game more closely, and he applied these to the games that he played. He put these skills to the test when he joined the World Series of Poker in 2004 and he ended up winning the $270,420 in the $3,000 Pot Limit Hold’Em event, which made him officially the youngest person to win a WSOP title. This record previously belonged to Allen Cunningham, and was taken away from him by Eric Froelich the year after. As of this day this remains to be his only WSOP bracelet, but considering he won this on his first time at the tournament, people considered him to be a poker player to watch out for. From this point onwards, Griffin continued to join other major poker tournaments, and in 2007 he became part of the list of people who have the biggest winnings all-time at the European Poker Tour, winning the first prize at the Grand Final of the EPT at Monte Carlo. He took home €1,825,010, which is equivalent to $2,434,061, for that tournament.

When he is not playing poker, he is busy being an activist, promoting breast cancer research and awareness to the world. His girlfriend is a breast cancer survivor, and that was how he got into the advocacy. He donates to several breast cancer foundations and research facilities, and PokerStars also donates to some of his charities as well.

Strategic Playing of Five-card Stud http://www.gamblepit.net/strategic-playing-of-five-card-stud/ http://www.gamblepit.net/strategic-playing-of-five-card-stud/#comments Sun, 13 Sep 2009 09:40:08 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=269 The general strategy involved in Five Card Stud is the concept of high cards and pairs.  Because the cards come one at a time with a betting round in between, to play for straights and flushes or even a full house is just asking to lose. The flushes are especially risky, because even though you were lucky enough to get four cards of the same suit during the first four streets, the odds of getting another flush are still against you, if you take into consideration the number of players and the number of cards left.

Fold if you are not able to form a pair or better cards after the first three cards have been dealt. A Strategic Playing of Five-Card Stud-1sharp memory helps; remember all the “live” cards and which ones are folded. Always keep a watchful eye on your opponents – study their body language and their moves. If a player’s showing card is clearly weak and he or she builds it up, try to find out whether he or she is bluffing, or if perhaps the accompanying cards that are folded give her a good hand. This will help you decide which moves to take when the round of betting begins.

If you are not completely confident in the victory of your cards, the best thing to do would be to fold when you witness a player being beaten by another’s up cards. Chances are, you will not be able to compete with that hand and are more likely to lose your money than win the pot. Don’t get carried away if you have one strong card. Even if you have an Ace, if the rest of your cards are rubbish then you are most likely to lose to a pair of two’s. As with any poker game, the main lesson to learn is to be able to let go, walk away and fold when your instincts tell you to do so.

How To Win In Five Card Draw http://www.gamblepit.net/how-to-win-in-five-card-draw/ http://www.gamblepit.net/how-to-win-in-five-card-draw/#comments Sun, 13 Sep 2009 08:32:07 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=261 Five-card draw is easily the most popular draw game in the world of poker. When playing this game, there are two vital things How To Win In Five-Card Drawthat must be taken into consideration. First and most significant thing to remember is to learn when to stay in the pot by betting or raising and when to fold the hand and just let go of the pot. Because this game allows players to change cards by discarding and re-dealing, most people forget to let go when they should be doing so, when all the warning bells go off. Remember that it is better to lose a little but still be in the game for the next draw rather than to lose everything and be made a laughingstock by the table. When you have anything lower than a high pair, just pull out. However, when you have a high pair or something even better, it’s time to stay in the game for as long as you think you have a shot. To rephrase, stay in if you feel that your hand is better than those of the players from your table.

Secondly, the second important thing to remember is to always, always keep your opponents on your toes in a guessing game that your body language as well as your subtle stares and slight actions are able to convey. to being a successful player right from the start is to keep your opponents guessing. For example, if you continuously draw three cards and feign eager anticipation then the other players will assume that you already have a pair and are looking for one more card to make a full house. Keep your style different to keep them on their toes and at the same time learn to art of predicting what cards your opponents may be holding.

Poker Variations http://www.gamblepit.net/poker-variations/ http://www.gamblepit.net/poker-variations/#comments Sun, 13 Sep 2009 08:20:58 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=256 Variations of PokerPoker has a lot of variations, but all of them follow share a similar pattern of play and use the same hand ranking hierarchy in general. There are three main variants of this game, largely grouped by the rules of card-dealing, betting, hands and the number of cards involved in each draw and how many cards remain in the final draw:

Straight

In this variation, each player is dealt a complete hand of either three or five cards from the beginning. In addition to that, betting only occurs in just one round. In that round alone, raising and re-raising is allowed. Although poker is constantly played in a more complex and mysterious form to allow more fun and additional strategy, this oldest poker variation rooted so far back to the American Revolution as a gentleman’s game, it still lives up to this day.

Stud

In stud games, cards are dealt in a combination that has been pre-arranged by the dealer. They consist of face down and face up rounds, also called “streets”, with one round of betting following each round of dealing. While straight is the oldest variation, stud comes as a close second in the family. Poker gradually advanced from being a three-card / hand game to a five-card one, and cards were often dealt one at a time whether face down or face up and betting rounds occurring between each. The goal of course is to make the best possible combination from the cards given.

Draw

In a draw, each player is given a complete hand face down. The interesting part about this variation is that players are allowed to try and change their hand with the obvious objective of improving it, of course, and getting the best possible combination. Players may opt to discard unwanted cards in order to be dealt with new ones. The risk here is that one must know which card is unwanted and which card has potential, especially when one’s hand is filled with random singles and no possible combinations!

The Difference Between Five-card Stud and Five-card Draw http://www.gamblepit.net/the-difference-between-five-card-stud-and-five-card-draw/ http://www.gamblepit.net/the-difference-between-five-card-stud-and-five-card-draw/#comments Sun, 13 Sep 2009 08:14:19 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=254 The Five Card Draw is the oldest and most basic form of playing poker.  Being well known around the world and the most The Difference Between Five-Card Stud and Five-Card Drawfamous of draw games, the five card draw is the most commonly played around the world and is usually what you would expect to see when you peek through a bachelor’s pad kitchen table or book club couch on a relaxing Saturday night. The Five Card Stud however, lost its popularity early in the game. The game reached its peak during the 1920’s and the early 1930’s, with more than two thirds of tables and rooms raising the stakes for the five card stud. However, it has not been played in even just a tenth of the professional games since the 1950’s. Nowadays, it is exceedingly difficult to find a place to play this game, and even when one manages to hunt down a place where five card stud is played, tables are most likely very few.

That is the first difference between five card stud and five card draw – its history and current status. The second difference is the number of players and showing cards. This is minimal and irrelevant, so let us proceed to discuss the differences in the mechanics of each game.

During the five card draw, the dealer gives the players all the five cards, one at a time and all facing down. In five card stud, the dealer gives the players only two cards, one at a time with the first card facing down and the other facing up. After the cards are given, a round of betting occurs in both games. And that is pretty much where the similarities end – the five card draw builds up to showdown by giving players the option to change their hands by surrendering three cards for a fresh deal and the betting is constant with each exchange. The five card stud builds up to showdown by completing the five cards for each player one at a time, dealt face up and with a betting round in between the distribution of each card.

Players choose and mark out Keno tickets individual numbers for Keno. The objective of the game is to make their selected numbers to be called up by ticking off the numbers which have been called in order to reveal the value of their earnings. Here are some useful strategies that will help you accomplish this objective.Keno - Strategy

Since Keno is a game of chance, you are unable to simply beat the system throught strategical gaming or betting systems. As we all know, Keno is a game of risk, so it would be very helpful instead if you learn to be content with the experience than to expect a certain win. One strategy is to simply not worry or think too much. Choosing or selecting only a few numbers help you relax. The more numbers you choose, the less likely the probability of them being called. Remember, simply placing fewer bets is a very valuable strategy.

Another great strategy is to review the results over a period of time and bet on the numbers that have not won in a while. The thinking behind strategy is valuable because as we all know, history repeats itself and it may be time for those numbers to win again.

Keno Basics http://www.gamblepit.net/keno-basics/ http://www.gamblepit.net/keno-basics/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 04:41:07 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=147 Keno is somewhat like a lottery or bingo gambling game which is frequently played at modern casinos. Keno is also played as a game in particular state lotteries. A traditional live casino Keno game employs a circular glass enclosure which is known as a “bubble”. The bubble contains 80 ping pong – like balls which determine the outcome of the balldraw. Each ball is printed with 1 through 80. A blower forces air into the bubble and blends the balls. The announcer or the caller then presses a lever opening a tube, where the balls lift one at a time into a V shaped tube known as the “rabbit ears”. The announcer then records each of the 20 balls drawn and the Keno system computes for all wagers based on the numbers drawn.Keno - Basics

The players involved wager by marking an x over the spot choices on a blank keno ticket form with 80 numbered selection boxes. After each of the players have placed their wagers, the casino draws 20 balls printed with the 80 numbers. In some cases, casinos automatically call the balldraw at preset timed intervals regardless of whether or not players are waiting to place a wager.

The casino sets its own series of pay scale choices known as paytables. The player is paid according to how many numbers drawn match the numbers chosen on the ticket and according to the paytable selected with regard to the wager amount. Players will discover a wide variation of keno paytables in various casinos and a large deviation in the house edge set for each of those paytables. Each casino usually offers many various paytables and specialty keno bets for players to choose from, each with its own distinct house edge. There are no two identical casino’s keno paytables. In Reno and Las Vegas, one will find that there are as many as 20 to 30 distinc paytables from which the player can choose.

The word “Keno” is derived from French and Latin roots (Fr. quine five winning numbers, L. quini five each), but by all accounts it is actually in China where the game originated.

It is believed in some feigned legend that the development of the game has saved an ancient city during a time of war. As a result, its overwhelming popularity has allowed China to gather enough funds in order to build the Great Wall. You may have even known by now that Keno is similar to a lotto game, but that is because Keno is actually a lotto. In fact, the name has been changed several times throughout its approximatel 3000 years history, in order to circumvent the law or taxes.

Keno began by using 120 Chinese characters. Before the game spread all over the world, the characters used were reduced to 90. Keno arrived in the Americas with the wave of Chinese immigrants in the 19th century. During this time, the characters were reduced to 80.

Keno was considered illegal yet thrived among Chinese immigrants, most especially aroung large cities such as San Francisco. By that time, Keno became known as the Chinese lottery. The Americans slowly became attracted to the game but had difficulty differentiating the Chinese characters. It is during the 20th century when Keno operators started to replace the chinese characters with Arabic number in order to accommodate more players.

Nevada legalized most forms of gambling in 1931, yet the legislature did not legalize lottery. The Keno operators then changed the name to Race Horse Keno, where each number was deemed to be a horse. In later times, many Keno operators regard their games as races just to get around this nuisance, but when the Us Government passed a law taxing off track betting, the name was once again changed to Keno.

Slingo http://www.gamblepit.net/slingo/ http://www.gamblepit.net/slingo/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 04:33:24 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=141 Slingo is an online multiplayer game invented by Slingo, Inc. in 1995. Slingo consists of a blend of slots and bingo, as well as elements from the exciting game show The Joker’s Wild, which features the slot machine, jokers and devils. What Is Slingo?

Slingo is an interesting game where a player has 20 turns to spin the numbers below his bingo card. Five numbers reveal themselves, and if they are printed in the card, they can be cancelled out.

As the game progresses, other significant items may reveeal in the number spots below the card. Jokers anre wild, and can be used to cancel out any number in the column in which it appears. A joker in the center column N can also become a Super Joker, which can be put anywhere on the board. When the Super Joker appears, it needs to be played first before any other numbers.

During the game, Devils can also possibly appear. If a devil does appear in place of a number, the player’s score is decreased in half. However, the Devil’s effects are canceled out if a Cherub appears, which shoots it with an arrow. A player does not have to worry too because cherubs appear frequently in the game.

There are also other significant elements in the game which includes coins. The coins allow the player to accumulate automatic points and free spins. The last four spins of the game, which are 17, 18, 19, and 20 must be purchased by using points. A player can also use accumulated free spins instead of paying the fee for any of the spins. There are also time limits put on spins as well. If a player does not begin his spin within a certain time limit, his chance for that spin is void. If a player also does not mark off all possible numbers or jokers within the time limit, those are considered void as well. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Bonanza Strategies http://www.gamblepit.net/bonanza-strategies/ http://www.gamblepit.net/bonanza-strategies/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 04:25:50 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=134 Bonanza is a very exciting portion of Bingo, yet can be frustrating for most if they do not have the patience. As a result, Bonanza strategies have been developed in order to help players focus on the game and have a positive and winning attitude. Most Bonanza Strategiesimportantly, Bonanza strategies are simply developed in order to bring more excitement and fun in the game.

If you want to enjoy the game, own the responsibility of following the numbers as they are called and the patterns that you are playing. If there is one valuable strategy that is useful in the long run, it is not expecting to win every time and not getting frustrated upon losing. You should also keep in mind that losing is only part of Bonanza, as there is only one winner where everyone wants to win.

Remember that these strategies are simply guides. Nevertheless, they will help you be patient, more relaxed, and more excited. Have a very memorable time playing Bonanza Bingo!

Bonanza Bingo Rules http://www.gamblepit.net/bonanza-bingo-rules/ http://www.gamblepit.net/bonanza-bingo-rules/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 04:22:40 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=132 BINGOSince Bonanza is a form of Bingo that is progressive and uses the blackout pattern, it has become one of the most anticipated portions of a bingo session. A set of numbers is called for a particular game and may vary, such as 50 numbers. If there is no winner in 50 numbers, then the jackpot simply rolls over to the next game. During the next game, one more number is added to the set of numbers until a winner calls bingo!

Bonanza Bingo uses an exciting Bingo pattern that is very popular among players since jackpots are usually associated with this pattern. It may take time to complete the blackout pattern, and the chances of winning are much higher than the normal bingo games.

The rules of Bonanza Bingo are actually simple. As you all know, you have to complete or mark off all 25 squares on your bingo card in a blackout pattern. If you are playing the 90-ball bingo pattern, you must cover all 27 squares. Now, if you are playing 80-ball bingo, of course you need to cover all 16 squares. In Bonanza Bingo, you need to mark all the numbers called first which is announced by the initiator before you can resume.

The great thing about this is that rarely does someone win a jackpot even before the real game begins. The one and only rule is to actually mark out everything in your card in order to win the jackpot. The important thing though is to give your undivided attention in order to mark off each number and not to missout anything. Even if you miss a single number, your chances of winning may be blown away. Once you comlete the pattern, instead of shouting blackout, you simply have to yell bingo in order to secure your win. What are you waiting for? Play Bonanaza Bingo and have enormous amounts of fun.

Bonanza Bingo Mechanics http://www.gamblepit.net/bonanza-bingo-mechanics/ http://www.gamblepit.net/bonanza-bingo-mechanics/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 04:21:33 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=130 Bonanza Bingo is a distinct format and an exciting way to increase your profits and enjoyment with other players. This game is played on a unique folded and sealed bingo cards. This is actually a significant addition to any bingo program.Bonanza Mechanics

The mechanics of the game are simple. Before starting the game, simply call 48 numbers and post them to your bonanza bingo flashboard and resume playing your regular game. Sell bonanza bingo cards before the last game of the night and close sales. A player who garners overall wins collects the jackpot prize. However, if there is no winner, continue calling out the 49th, 50th and so on and so forth until a winner for the consolation prize arises.

The Bonanza Bingo game is one exciting way of playing bingo since you call 45 numbers first before your session begins and post them in your flashboard. The distinct element in this game is that you need to sell your bonanza cards throughout your session until the beginning of the game just before the bonanza game. The player who is able to cover his entire card wins the jackpot. Another distinct feature is that the game resumes until the number are called out to reveal the winner of the consolation prize. The benefit of adding a number each night to the numbers called until a player wins the jackpot increases the players chances of increasing spending and winning.

Quick Shot Strategies http://www.gamblepit.net/quick-shot-strategies/ http://www.gamblepit.net/quick-shot-strategies/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 04:16:20 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=128 There really is no one great formula in order to amass great winning prizes in one sitting, day or card. Remember that bingo is still a game of chance where you await for the caller to call your number and hope to heavens that the next number he call will be yours. And then there’s the obvious truth that you are competing with thousands, even millions, of opponents to hit the jackpot.Quick Shot Strategies

While in the clasic bingo game you can have your strategy by palying on a more unpopular hours or day and play with fewer people in order to increase your chance of winning, this is not applicable to quick shot bingo. You could decide to go to the nearest quickstop for a botle of soda and end up buying a card without having early intention of purchasing one. For some people, it can totally be random. For some, it could also be pre-conceived. Depends on what kind of player you are.

So, the greatest and most helpful tip anyone can give you in aiming for the prize or jackpot is to play with more cards. More cards means more chances of winning. Of course this will not guarantee anyone anything, but it is an option. Oftentimes, the proportional jump in prize value makes it more cost-effective to buy multiple cards for a better shot at that prize than to pay more for one card that can win a higher prize.

Find out the prize and deliberate about the possibility of obtaining a pattern in one card, two cards or more. Is the prize worth the number of cards you bought? Or was it merely for fun that you purchased it? It is much better to play knowing that you know the game that you are playing rather than just riding the wave of popularity these games are offering.

Quick Shot Rules http://www.gamblepit.net/quick-shot-rules/ http://www.gamblepit.net/quick-shot-rules/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 04:14:43 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=126 The significant difference between the quick shot bingo variant from other variants and the original version is the fact that there are already pre-selected numbers drawn before you even purchase your own bingo cards. The sealed bingo cards are just there, lying in shops everyday waiting to be picked up by an eager player hoping for a good luck in today’s game.Quick Shot Rules

We often seen in television series and movies how some random people just purchase a one time bingo card and have a massive winning with only one card in hand. That is always a possibility, bingo, after all is a game of chance. But how about those people who religiously buy their card/s each day waiting for that one luck to struck them but somehow eluding them still.

One of the most important rule, and the only there is perhaps, is to make sure you purchase your card, sealed and unopened ready to be compared and marked off from the day’s pre-drawn numbers. Remember, a certain pattern that was asked must be achieved. If say, the pattern being asked is a horizontal line, you must also give a horizontal line pattern in order to claim that you are indeed a winner.

Double check all the numbers and the pattern. Sometimes, no matter how sure we are about it, some things still skip our vision. It doesn’t hurt to check really. Who knows, it could be your lucky day. If not, there are still many days ahead where prizes could be much even bigger. Apparently, that is the rule. If nobody get’s the day’s prizes or jackpot, new numbers are drawn, until a winner could be made. This could go on for days, sometimes weeks. So remember to keep your calm and never forget to put the fun out of the game.

Quick Shot Mechanics http://www.gamblepit.net/quick-shot-mechanics/ http://www.gamblepit.net/quick-shot-mechanics/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 04:13:03 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=124 With so many variations of Bingo that came out and probably still to come out in the future, this part will solely focus on one popular variation known as Quick Shot bingo. One of the reasons why many people patronize this variant is because it is cheaper and the more practical to spread in the markets.Quick Shot Mechanics

While it may be said that quick shot bingo is of a recent discovery, it nevertheless captured the hearts of players from all over the world. The impact of it to United States alone is one big testament. As mentioned before, the quick shot bingo game is not only as fun as the classic variant to play, it is more affordable and practical. ANy player can play a game of quick shot whenever they wishes, providing that the stores are still open. The reason for this is because the bingo cards are bought in any general or departmental stores and is available in the form of sealed bingo cards.

The bingo card also has the same five-by-five seen on the original version. Once the card has been purchased, it can be brought to places where they post bingo numbers. One must remember that these numbers have been pre-selected and are usually posted in popular public places or simply where you bought your bingo card! It is with these pre-selected list of numbers that the player must compare their five-by-five bingo card to.

The player will then marked off all the matching numbers in their card and if they manage to achieve any of the pre-designated forms of pattern with the marked cards, then the player gets to receive a prize as a reward to this. Quite simple right? Plus, quick shot bingo is not illegal and can be played anywhere. No wonder many people are finding this game such a challenge, not to mention a fun.

Variations http://www.gamblepit.net/variations/ http://www.gamblepit.net/variations/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 04:10:26 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=122 Bingo - VariationsSince the invention of the modern bingo game in 1934, it has evolved into multiple variations. You will actually be surprised on how such a simple game such as bingo could have a lot of variations but then these are the reasons why it’s so much fun to play the game. Below are the lists of bingo variations available today:

UK 90 BALL BINGO

Also commonly referred to as Housie in the UK, the card for the 90-ball game of bingo has a three-by-nine pattern for the grid. A single card carries 9 columns and 3 rows, with five numbers for each row as well as the four additional blank spaces. Each column has 1, 2 or 3 numbers. It also contains fifteen random and unique numbers which range from 1 to 90. There are three prizes being awarded in Housie, one for a player who can complete a row, another for the player who completes the row first and lastly, to the player who gets to mark all the numbers first (usually this is the jackpot).

U-PICK’EM BINGO

It is a common variation of bingo which allows players to choose the numbers they wish to mark and monitor for a win. Though it is often said to resemble Keno, a game invented by the Chinese, this variation is widely recognized and accepted.

75 BALL BINGO

This variant is commonly being played by people living in the United States and Canada. It is played with a card of five-by-five grid pattern. Each of the rows in the card contains five numbers and has no spaces on it unlike the card for the 90 ball bingo game. Under the 75-ball variant, there are two different types of game to be played. These games are the following:

Cover All: easiest type one could play online. All a player has to do in order to win is to be the first person to have the entire card which contains the numbers marked. Cover-all bingo also jas the higher jackpot than any other bingo games. One has to remember that in order to win, all numbers must be marked before the caller ever give the forty first call of a number because after the forty first draw of the ball, prize will diminish.

Regular: There are only three ways to win in a regular bingo. One is to make a horizontal line, make a vertical line and to have the entire numbers in the diagonal row marked. But because there are many ways to win the prize or jackpot, the prize eventually becomes smaller.

Rules of Bingo http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-bingo/ http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-bingo/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 04:07:25 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=120 Even if the game is simple, there are certainly rules to be followed, otherwise it could result to a very chaotic scene. Bingo is an easy game to understand that there are only few rules required to be remembered. The main goal of Bingo is to be the first player to mark-off the numbers on your bingo cardboard with the numbers called by the Bingo Caller. You win a prize (or a jackpot in some cases) just by being the first person to mark off all the numbers in a row or particular pattern specified by the bingo rules.

Players buy their cards with numbers on them arranged in a five-by-five pattern of rows and columns, with numbers in random. The bingo caller is responsible for drawing out numbered balls, between 1 and 75, from a rotating bin. Each column has fifteen numbers from which to choose.

“B” has the selection between 1 and 15.

“I” has the selection between 16 and 30

“N” has the numbers between 31 and 45

“G” has the numbers between 46 and 60

“O” has the remaining numbers between 61 and 75

Bingo - RulesWhenever numbers are called, players mark them off their cards as they find them. First person to complete a pattern on their card with the corresponding letters win. However, there are many possible patterns used in bingo games. There’s the straight line down one side of a card or a diagonal line through the center. There are other variations that includes filling in the borders of the card or creating a certain shape on the card.

When a player has successfully mark off all the numbers in a pattern, they must call out “Bingo!” loudly for the caller to hear. The card will be then inspected to ensure its validity. Bingo might be a game of chance but there are some ways to increase one’s chance in winning the prize. Purchasing more Bingo cards is probably one of the best thing to do because there’s a better chance with more cards than only having one card. A helpful reminder: never ever call out a Bingo unless you’ve made sure that you certainly have a winning card already.

History of Bingo http://www.gamblepit.net/history-of-bingo/ http://www.gamblepit.net/history-of-bingo/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 04:05:10 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=117 Did you know that the popular game we know today has its history dating back from the time it was created in Italy in 1530 as a lottery? The Italian lottery called Lo Giucco del Lotto D’Italia was commissioned in order to increase Italy’s budget without having to impose additional taxes. During those days, this ancient game is only played every Saturday.Bingo - History-1

Naturally, the game traveled to other parts of the Europe and in the 1770s, it reached France. It was then adopted by wealthy and rich Frenchmen indicating that bingo wasn’t always a game of the crowd. They referred to it as Le Lotto. The French version of the Italian lottery is similar to today’s bingo in some distinctive ways. Le Lotto had three horizontal rows and nine columns, there are blank spaces inserted at the tablet in random order, each column containing numbers from a fixed set of ten numbers.

The German people have also been playing an early version of bingo but they used it for educational purposes- teaching math, history, etc. Finally, it reached America via a carnival in Georgia near Atlanta. In 1929, a young traveling toy salesman by the name of  Edwin S. Lowe happen upon a bingo game while touring Georgia. He arrived in the carnival where the only tent open was a Beano tent. The tent was so packed with players that he himself was not able to play it at all. This is when Lowe recognized the potential of the game, decided to adopt it and market Beano.

Lowe created his own version of the game by obtaining some beans, cardboard and a rubber stamp. He invited his friends to play the game with and during the game, one player accidentally yelled out “Bingo” instead of Beano. The name stucked, hence Bingo instead of Beano.

During the Great Depression, the games received the highest popularity, with Lowe receiving numerous letters asking him advice and help with bingo games that he came out with the “Instructional Manual”, the first printed bingo manual. In 1934 he published The Blotter, a bingo newspaper, which was distributed to more than 30,000 subscribers.

Today, the bingo popularity continues to rise with bingo halls and clubs all around the world. Due to today’s technological advancement, you can also play bingo without ever having to leave your house with the help of thousand online bingo games. It promised to be a big hit and surely, it is still a hit and not stopping anytime soon.

Variations of Blackjack http://www.gamblepit.net/variations-of-blackjack/ http://www.gamblepit.net/variations-of-blackjack/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 04:02:41 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=115 Blackjack, being the most loved casino games worldwide has given way to numerous Blackjack variations, each one exciting and fun in its own way. One can say that most blackjack variations are being played under similar rules but each game is unique in specific ways that players can play whatever they may fancy.Variations Of Blackjack

The hottest variations are European, Atlantic City and Vegas Blackjack but there are a number of other games available too. The most important thing to remember when choosing a game that you wish to win is to look at the odds or house edge before proceeding since the higher the house advantage, the less chance you have of winning on a regular basis. Also note that the house edge can vary depending on where you are playing, so make sure you check up on this too once you have chosen a casino.

The following is an overview of blackjack variations:

SPANISH 21

It is similar to the basic game in many ways but gets its name from the deck of cards it is played with. It is played with 6-8, 48 decks, face cards count as 10 with no numerical 10 cards present. The dealer may hit or stand on soft 17. Players may double on any number of cards or may hit or double after splitting aces.

An important thing to remember in Spanish 21 is that a player blackjack beats dealer blackjack. Late surrender is allowed on the initial 2 cards.

EUROPEAN BLACKJACK

The dealer is positioned on a soft 17 hand, enabling to raise the player’s probability of defeating others. Double down is allowed only if your two-card sum equals to 9, 10 or 11 and never on a split pair. Two decks are used in each game and are frequently shuffled, with the dealer having a hole card (face down card), which makes this variant quite famous.

DOUBLE EXPOSURE

In Double Exposure, there is an unusual twist of blackjack games. Both the dealer’s cards are dealt faced up, a huge advantage for the player. In this game, the dealer wins on a tie and there are no blackjack bonuses to compensate for the player advantage.

BONUS BLACKJACK

This is the same as European Blackjack but has an added bonus option, meaning, this game usually pays out a great deal more than the other games at a casino. Played with 2 decks of cards, as what the original blackjack rules state, with a “bonus” option on the table. If you bet on the bonus, hands of Blackjack featuring a Jack and an Ace of Spades pay out at 50:1, with Jacks of any other suit accompanied by an Ace payout at 25:1.

ATLANTIC CITY

This version is played in a shoe with 8 decks of cards with the dealer standing on soft 17 (i.e., an Ace and a Six). Players are allowed to double on first two cards and right after a split. Splits can also be re-split to form up to 3 total hands. The dealer checks for Blackjack before the hand could continue. Late surrender is allowed.

VEGAS STRIP

Named after its origin, the Vegas Strip blackjack is played with 4 standard 52 card decks. There is only one bet position at the table. The dealer will stand on soft 17 and he peeks for blackjack. A player can double on any first 2 cards and doubling after splitting is permitted. Re-splitting into 3 hands is allowed.

Your possible hands are showed along the side of the table while the dealer’s possible cards are across the top and where they meet, it tells you how to play your hand.

If at first the table completely mess with your head, do not worry, that is the usual reaction. Look closer to the table and it can actually make a sense. The basic blackjack strategy is available via books, pamphlet and why of course, the internet blackjack sites.

Then there is also the blackjack card counting strategy, based on the theory that blackjack probabilities does not remain constant and changes as cards are played and removed from the deck. The player must memorize which cards have been played, which allows you to have a better idea of the cards that are likely to appear. If the player know what cards are still left in the deck, then the player can bet accordingly. But this famous techniques, unfortunately have been banned by most casinos. However, if you are skilled enough to remember then see how far you can go before the casinos throw you out. Make sure you are aware of the rules of the games as there are variations existing that affect the odds.

Aside from card skills, one must have the ability to have a good betting strategy too. It is very important since this is where money is already involved. Learn the betting options that you can make in the game and choose those that are most effective for the situation.

Lastly, the strategy that many players take for granted is the ability read your opponent. Be aware of even the smallest cue that an opponent might give away. Of course, you must also learn in return how to not give away your own plays.

Rules of Blackjack http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-blackjack/ http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-blackjack/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 03:57:06 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=110 Rules of BlackjackNow that you know the object of the game, it is time to learn more about the rules. They are basically very simple although there might be some variations but certainly you will be advised.  Remember, to win the game, you need to beat the dealer without busting. Exceed your cards total to more than 21 and you automatically lose.

The blackjack rules says that all bets must be placed at the beginning of the game, before any cards are dealt. The dealer either use six or eight decks of cards to be shuffled together and placed in a card dispensing box called as “Shoe”. Each players are then dealt two cards face up while the dealer gets one face up, one face down. Each player can either Stand (you don’t want to take any more cards) or Hit (you’re taking one more card to be added on your hand) to try to get closer to 21 without busting.

The dealer might start with a pair of cards but they can also Hit to rival the players’ score without going bust. Assuming that neither the players nor the dealer don’t go bust and don’t make 21, the one with the biggest score is the winner. There is a rule though in most casinos wherein the dealer is compelled to Stand if their cards’ worth becomes seventeen or higher. On counts of 16 or lower, the dealer must still Hit.

If you make a total of 21 with the first two cards (either a ten or a Face and an Ace), you automatically win. This is called “Blackjack”. If you have a Blackjack, you win one and one-half times your bet unless the dealer has also scored a 21, by which case it is a Push or a Tie and you get your bet back. Remaining players that has a higher count than the dealer win an amount equal to their bet while players with a lower count than the dealer lose their bet. If the dealer busts, all the remaining players win.

The following are other betting options:

* Insurance: it is offered whenever the dealer is showing an Ace. The idea of insurance is that you are betting the dealer has a Blackjack. If you want insurance, you place half the size of your bet in the insurance spot on the table. In the occassion that the dealer indeed has a Blackjack, you receive 2-1 on your insurance bet. If you take the insurance and the dealer does not have Blackjack, you lose your insurance bet but will be able to continue the hand with your original bet. Insurance is only a good idea to take when you have a very good hand.

* Surrender: giving up your hand, losing only half the bet.

* Early Surrender: a surrender allowed before the dealer checks for blackjack.

* Late Surrender: the dealer checks first if he has a blackjack. If he does, surrender is not permitted.

* Even Money: cashing in your bet right away at a 1:1 payout ratio when you are dealt a natural blackjack and the dealer’s showing card is an Ace.

Basics of Blackjack http://www.gamblepit.net/basics-of-blackjack/ http://www.gamblepit.net/basics-of-blackjack/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 03:52:29 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=107 Basics of BlackjackAfter breaking out in France since the 1700’s, blackjack has most certainly come a long way. It is somehow safe to say that it is the most popular game of chance to this day. And with the advent of the computer added even more to the popularity of the game because online blackjack is not only sweeping the nation, it is also sweeping the online world of entertainment. Admit it, a person who does not play blackjack probably does not know how to play. How could it be. when it’s one of the easiest games to play!

The aim of the game is to get the total sum of the cards dealt in your hands as close to 21 as possible. The most important blackjack rule is not to exceed over 21 points. Every player is given two cards, including the one who gives the cards, the dealer. The dealer gives the cards both lying facedown, in clockwise order. The dealer will then receive his two cards, one card dealt down, the other card dealt face up.

Bets are based upon one’s chances of hitting 21 or the “blackjack”. It is also based upon your odds of defeating the dealer and it is very important that one must know the odds they are against before placing bets. One must remember though, that in this game, other players sitting in the table are not the opponent. The dealer, and only the dealer, is your opponent.

Some of important things to remember when playing blackjack:

* A hand that goes over (exceeds) 21 is a bust.

* The suits have no meaning in this game. Number cards are valued equal to their number while all the picture cards (Jacks, Queens and Kings) are worth 10.

* Aces can either be worth 1 or 11, whichever is beneficial to the card-holder. For example, a hand that with an Ace and a Nine is worth 20 (the Ace is valued at 11 known as hard Ace). A hand with an Ace, a Five and an Eight is worth 14 (the Ace is valued at one, known as hard Ace, since if it were valued at 11 the hand would bust).

The blackjack table is a semi-circle, with the dealer standing at the center of the straight side and the players sitting around the arc of the circle. Every casino tables have betting limits, usually it is listed as a minimum and maximum bet. One simply needs to sit down at an open seat and place a bet in the small marked area on the table found directly in front of you.

How Blackjack Began http://www.gamblepit.net/how-blackjack-began/ http://www.gamblepit.net/how-blackjack-began/#comments Thu, 10 Sep 2009 03:49:39 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/how-blackjack-began/ The game of cards has a long history. From the time of Kings and Queens up to today, these games have evolved to be some of the most played in casinos and online gaming sites. There are a lot of card games available today that wouls suit any player. Of these card games, lackjack is the most widely played in the world. This casino banking game involves adding the value of two cards in hand hoping to reach the value of 21. The games popularity is mixed with strategy, chance and skill. There are many variations of the game in casinos all over the world. How Blackjack Began

Nobody knows how the game came to be. The earliest account was from a book of Don Quixote author Miguel de Cervantes who was a gambler himself. In his story “Rinconete y Cortadillo” written sometime in 1601-1602, a group of cheaters have talents in winning the game “veintuna”. The objective of the game is to get 21 points without busting. The game is played with cards but without the tens. There were also other accounts of this game in France and in Spain.

The game 21 was later on introduced to the United States but did not gain the same popularity as it did in Europe. Gambling houses created different ways to make the game work for clients. They created bonus schemes that attracted the players to the tables. A 10-to-1 payout is given if a player had an ace of spades and a black jack. This combination was known the Blackjack and the name soon stuck with it. In modern times, the blackjack is simply an ace plus a ten-value card.

The game soon became the best game in casinos. It has been featured in movies and other shows. The popularity of the game is because of the easy mechanics and the thrill of it.

How Different Is Hi Lo From Pot Limit Omaha Holdem http://www.gamblepit.net/how-different-is-hi-lo-from-pot-limit-omaha-holdem/ http://www.gamblepit.net/how-different-is-hi-lo-from-pot-limit-omaha-holdem/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 15:22:33 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=99 With the growing number of casino games, it is hard to choose which one to play. Some say that this is easier, while another is saying otherwise. Others claim to have higher prizes and greater chances of winning. Surprisingly, Poker has branched out to include other variations. Aside from Texas Hold’em, there is also Omaha Hold’em which is further divided into Pot Limit and Hi Lo. So how do you choose one over the other? What’s the difference between them? How Different is Hi-Lo From Pot Limit Omaha Holdem

Pot-limit Omaha is widely popular in Europe than in then United States. It is usually played high only but can also be played with both high and low. This type of Omaha tends to have huge swings and often very expensive. In casinos, it is often played with the highest stakes. It is a game of drawing to the nut hand. In this game, second best flushes and straights often lose.  Pot Limit Omaha takes into consideration building the nut hand and position. In this game, anybody could instantly become the big winner and another could become the biggest loser because of the high stakes they are playing.

In Hi Lo Omaha, the game is played in High and Low which gives one bigger chances of winning. The winner may not necessarily take it all since there are times wherein the pot money is divided between two or more winners. In this case, these winners still end up losing because they have put in more money than what they won. If you’re in luck, you can scoop the entire pot of you have both the best Low and High. If you have the right strategy and Lady Luck on your side, then you are sure to win big.

The main difference between the two is the way they are played and the stakes that are involved. If you are more of a risk taker, try the Pot Limit. If you’re the type who is open to possibilities, the try the Hi Lo Omaha.

That is how it has been and will always be. Nobody wants to be a loser so we make great effort to win and get that prize. When we go surfing the net for strategies, a lot of hits will come up and provide you with what you need. They all claim to be the best but in reality, it is best to discover your own. In playing Omaha, remember that you play to get the pot. If you feel that your high hand or low hand will fail, might as well fold early. Slow play is the key in this game. Early raises prove to be risky since players don’t usually run off. Uniform flops can easily turn into straights that can overtake your good hand. Beware of players who are on the rush to bet al their chips. Some of them are just trying their luck with the last hand. Know your enemy. It is best to scrutinize your opponent’s expressions and gestures to get a hint if they are bluffing or not. Loosen up and get caught bluffing. In this way, it varies your play and makes you unpredictable. You might end up winning even if you didn’t really deserve it. Lastly, pay very close attention to your cards. Be sure to make the right choices. Sometimes you feel that you have the bes had then you end up getting disappointed in the end,

Rules of Hi Lo Omaha Holdem http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-hi-lo-omaha-holdem/ http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-hi-lo-omaha-holdem/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 15:16:39 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=95 If you are one who loves to gamble, the casino will surely be a haven for you. Casino games, just like gadgets are fast evolving. Rules of Hi-Lo Omaha HoldemNew techniques, strategies and games are being introduced. Some even slowly gaining popularity and have been dubbed as the game of the future. These games, just like their predecessors, have been mastered and made better through time. The Hi Lo Omaha Hold’em is fast becoming the game of choice and is outgrowing other 7 card stud populations.

So how do you play the game? The rules are quite simple, the playing is the hard part. The Omaha Hi Lo’s pot can be split if there is a low hand. To have a low hand, your 5 unpaired cards must equal  or lower. The Ace has lowest value. A player can have both the best low and high hand. In this case, he wins the entire pot.  Omaha is a fixed position game and position is determined by the dealer chip that moves on a clockwise direction. Same with Texas, the dealer has the advantage of acting last in every round.

The order of betting and reveal of cards is the same as Texas. In the end of the process, a showdown is made and the best high and low are selected. The good thing about the four cards is that they can be used to make both highs and lows. It is all about keeping your options open. Sometimes, a ‘quartered’ situation happens where in two players have identical highs and only one player has a low. The lone player gets the half while the other two splits the other half. This is not a good thing since some of them end up shelling out more money than what they got from the quartered win.

The Omaha seems easy to play but it takes a lot of practice and the right strategy to master its art. Nobody wants to lose so it is best to practice and do your homework about the game.

With the number of casino games around, sometimes it gets confusing which one to play. The easiest would be the slot machine. It truly is based on pure luck. You just put in a coin, pull, and wait for the elusive 7-7-7 combination. Many of us don’t know stuff about playing these games unless we are really passionate about it then we try to research. More and more games are being introduced into the market. Some are easy while others require practice and experience to be able to appreciate them. One game whose popularity is one the rise is Omaha Hold’em.

Omaha Hold’em is very much similar to Texas Hold’em wherein the players are given four cards and must use his best had with two of them plus three of the five community cards. The mechanics of the game are more or less the same. In a  Hi-Lo split, a player makes a high 5-card hand and a five-card ace to five low hand. The pot is split between the high and low. For a player to qualify for a low, he must play 8 pr lower. The game also has a round of betting. Each player must be able to combine two of their cards with three of those on the table to make the best 5-card hand.

The low hand rules are a bit more complicated and would be easily understood with a video tutorial. The low hand is the five lowest unpaired cards in your hand. Of your four cards, two can be used for high and another two for the low hands. It is best to practice by playing it online. This is a game  where practice makes perfect. The more time you spend playing, the better is your understanding.  Once you get used to it, you can now easily read the combinations you have and can easily know the ins and outs.

Anybody who has been to this city would surely wakeup with a hangover the next day. There is just so much you could do with your time. You can shop, dine, dance the night away, and gamble with high stakes. The casinos offer a lot of games from theDifferences Between Fixed, Spread and No Limit Texas Holdem simple slot machines to the more complicated poker. Many flock to Texas Hold’em tables making it a the most popular poker game across the United States and Europe.  There are three popular betting forms: No limit, fixed limit  and spread limit.

In a fixed-limit game, the player has only two options: to bet or not. The bet amount is fixed by rule. The amount eventually doubles at some point in the game to enable the possibility of bluffing. In a fixed-limit game, only a predetermined number of raises is allowed. The common is three or four depending on the casino house rules. An exception is made when only two players are left and the others have folded. They may be allowed to re-raise each other until one goes all in. It can also be played as a Kill Game wherein a player who has won an amount or number f consecutive hands places a kill blind. This is usually 1.5 times or double the price of the big blind.

In a Spread limit, the players are allowed to bet any amount within a specified range. In the first few rounds, the limit could be lower like from $1 to $5. This then becomes bigger in later rounds which could be $1 to $10. Playing a spread game requires care so as not to give away your status. A variation of this is the California spread wherein the range is higher. The maximum bet than can be placed is the siize of the limit. If it is a 1-100 game, the maximum bet is $100.

No Limit is commonly used in TV poker tournaments and played as the main event at the World Series of Poker. In this game, any player can raise any amount, even all in in any point of the game. It still has a minimum bet and raises should be equal of greater than the previous.

No Limit Texas Holdem Gameplay http://www.gamblepit.net/no-limit-texas-holdem-gameplay/ http://www.gamblepit.net/no-limit-texas-holdem-gameplay/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 15:05:08 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=85 Blinding lights, plush interiors, polishes tables and well-dressed individuals. These are the usual things you see in casinos. No-Limit Texas Holdem OverallEverywhere you see people trying their lucks on different games, food and drinks served by courteous staff, and an atmosphere money, money and more money. Many of us feel the thrill when we are anticipating something. With gambling, we can surely feel that high.

Texas Hold’em is the most popular poker game in casinos. Three of the most common variations are the limit holdem, no-limit hold’em and pot-limit hold’em. The mechanics are more or less the same for three but they just differ in the betting limits.

In a No-Limit hold’em, The Button dictates who plays first, who plays last and who has to put in forced bets called blinds. Every player has the equal opportunity to hold the button since this travels in a clockwise fashion. At the start of each hand, two players will be designated as the Small Blind and the Big Blind. The Small blind is always the player to the left of the Button and the Big Blind is the player to the left of the Small Blind.  These two players must  put two chips to the pot before even having seen the cards. In No-Limit Hold’em, only a single deck of cards is used and there are no wild cards.

The Dealer now deals two cards facedown to the players which serve as “hole” cards. Each player takes turn in checking their cards and caps them by placing a chip or any small object to prevent them from being swept in by the dealer. The players then place their bets. Some may choose to Fold or not play the hand by tossing the cards into the center of the table. A player calls when he decides to add the same amount of chips as the Big Blind. Since this is No-Limit Hold’em, a player can bet an amount higher than the Bog Blind or go all in by betting all his chips.

After every player has acted, the dealer deals three cards on the middle of the table known as the Flop. The second round of betting now begins. The Turn is now dealt and the third betting begins. The one last card known as the River is dealt and the final betting round begins. Since there are now five cards, it is now time for a Showdown. The players show their cards but oftentimes, only the winning had is revealed. When the winner is determined, the dealer pushes all the chips from the center to the winner.

Good Strategies in Playing Spread-Limit Poker http://www.gamblepit.net/good-strategies-in-playing-spread-limit-poker/ http://www.gamblepit.net/good-strategies-in-playing-spread-limit-poker/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 14:20:44 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=81 With the seven-card stud the best strategy is to memorize the cards and start counting the cards to be able to keep track of the changes that are taking place. With the fixed-limit Texas hold’em, the technique is in knowing when to stay in and when to back out of a play – play or fold. It’s all in the timing, since the betting is pretty much set and you’re not playing against the other players on the table; you’re playing against the dealer. With spread-limit poker, it’s about a combination of the strategy for fixed-limit and another strategy that is used in another kind of poker, the no-limit (NL) Texas hold’em.Good Strategies in Playing Spread Limit Poker

Like in fixed-limit Texas hold’em, you have to know when to stay in and when to fold. This is because you have bigger money at stake here, due to the rising nature of the betting that the spread-limit Texas hold’em permits in the game. While there may be a limit, the rules on betting are rather loose, and so the pot could get higher more unexpectedly than when you play in a fixed-limit game. If you think your cards are not worth betting on, then you should fold when you have the chance and keep the rest of your money safe. On the other hand, if you do decide to play, then don’t always bet the maximum amount that you can. While it’s wise to raise the pot when you’re absolutely certain it’s difficult to beat the hand that you have (for instance, when you see that a flush or higher has appeared, or if you’ve got at least an Ace-King combination), it’s not wise to bluff and raise the pot when you only have a pair because chances are, your opponent might have a higher pair than you do, or even better. Weigh your options very well.

Now something that you can use as a strategy in playing spread-limit Texas hold’em that you cannot use in fixed-limit Texas hold’em is to control your bet. This is because in the fixed-limit variation, you have to bet followin the limits set – for the first two rounds you have to bet in increments of the lower limit, and in the next two rounds of betting you have to bet in increments of the upper limit, no more and definitely no less than that. With the spread limit variation of Texas hold’em, you have the option to choose any amount within the spread limit given, the only rule being you have to bet higher than the last time and you cannot bet above the upper limit for a particular round. Given this freedom, you have to bet wisely, and betting wisely means betting cheaply. You may want to hold your betting bigger money until you reach the last two betting rounds, where you have more or less an idea of the true value of your cards, because if you bet big early on, you just might end up losing your money without batting an eyelash. So bet wisely and enjoy the thrill of spread-limit poker.

Rules of Spread-Limit Texas Hold’Em http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-spread-limit-texas-holdem/ http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-spread-limit-texas-holdem/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 14:18:20 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=79 Rules of Spread-Limit Texas Holdem

Spread-limit Texas Hold’em follows most of the rules that other poker games follow. The player on the button is the last player to act, except in the first round of betting when the big blind is the last person to make his move. The cards are distributed one card per player at a time, and so the distribution of the cards should be first hole card for all players first, then second hole card for all players, beginning with the small blind and ending with the one on the button. All cards must be visible to the dealer at all times, and the dealer must shuffle the cards in front of the players first before distributing them for a round of spread-limit Texas hold’em. Under no circumstances are the players to communicate the value of their cards to the other players or to the dealer in any way – doing so results in a dead hand, and the pot is forfeited to the house. When playing a game, the house takes up to ten percent of the pot – or up to $4, depending on the casino – as their profit for that game.

Of course, because spread-limit Texas hold’em has a different betting structure, then the betting happens differently as well. Unlike in the fixed limit games, where you have to pay a given amount at a particular point in the game, in spread-limit Texas hold’em you can bet anywhere between the betting spread that you are given at a particular time. However, if you do decide to raise, you are not allowed to exceed the maximum limit of the spread you are given, and you are also not allowed to bet below the raise of the player before you. This is how the pot gets bigger than in the fixed-limit variation of Texas hold’em: here you have to either bet an amount equal to the previous bet to call, or you have to add a bigger amount than the last person who raised added in order to be able to raise. So if the person before you raised $3, you have to raise $4 or more without going over the upper hand of the spread limit for you in that particular round. After the first round of betting, and during the following rounds of betting, you have the option to check in the following rounds provided that no one raises the bet to the point where you have to call as well to stay in the game.

If you’re more used to playing fixed-limit, you may get confused by this system of betting in the spread-limit game. But you just have to remember that the limits set in the spread-limit game is more of a range of amounts you can bet with rather than a fixed amount that you have to throw in the pot, so you still have some semblance of control over the money that goes into the pot. Just remember these rules, practice a bit, and you’re ready to go.

How To Play Spread Limit in Texas Hold’Em http://www.gamblepit.net/how-to-play-spread-limit-in-texas-holdem/ http://www.gamblepit.net/how-to-play-spread-limit-in-texas-holdem/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 14:16:31 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=77 Spread-limit Texas Hold’em is a type of poker that mixes the limits of fixed-limit Texas hold’em and the excitement of the no-limit Texas hold’em. In spread limit, you still have the limit as with the fixed-limit, but unlike the fixed limit, where you have to bet in increments of the limits given (for example, in a $1/$2 FL Texas hold’em game, you have to bet the first two rounds in increments of $1 and the last two rounds in increments of $2) , here you can bet amounts as long as it’s within the spread of the betting limit. So if you’re in a spread limit game where the limit is $2 – $6, then you can bet any amount within the $2-$6 range. This is also a popular game for the beginners because the limits are still there, and the added excitement of the continuously raising bets at the beginning of the game, when the limit is not yet as observable as it is later on in the game, provides the thrill that beginning poker players desire.

How to Play Spread-Limit Texas HoldemSpread limit Texas hold’em is played in the same way as the fixed-limit Texas hold’em games, with one significant difference: the limit rises as the rounds go on. For instance, if you take the example above, the big blind may be at $2, and the betting range at $2-6, but if someone decides to raise then the betting limit could be raised from $2 – $6 to $4 – $8. This way you feel the stakes getting bigger without removing the limit to the money that you’re putting at stake for the game. Also, the good thing about using this type of betting instead of the fixed limit one is that with the fixed limit, when you call, you have to give exactly the amount that is asked of you by the limit, whereas here in spread limit, you can bet the amount of money you think your hand is worth. This way you don’t regret the bets you make without taking away the fun of betting.

This is how you proceed – you play as you would begin the fixed-limit Texas hold’em, but the changes occur when you start betting. For example, if you are in a game where the small blind is $1 and the big blind is $2 then you start off with an initial $3 in the pot, and the spread limit is at $2-6. The player who begins the play, the one who is immediately to the left of the big blind, has the choice to raise the bet. Let’s say he does, and he turns the current bet into $5. The next player has to bet anywhere between $4 to $8 to call the current bet, but if he decides to raise, he cannot raise below $2 (because the previous player raised at $3 and you cannot bet a lower raise than the previous one) but he cannot exceed the $6 limit. The process goes on with the other players and the cards are dealt to the players, and when the betting re-ensues, the limit is reset to the original values that they have started with – the $2-$6 limit . This cycle happens and the spread does not get higher (it remains at $2-$6) as the game progresses, until it’s time for the turnover. It’s easy, it brings in more money, but it’s still a relatively safe way for a beginner to enjoy the thrills of Texas Hold’em.

Various Strategies In Playing Fixed-Limit Texas Hold’Em http://www.gamblepit.net/various-strategies-in-playing-fixed-limit-texas-holdem/ http://www.gamblepit.net/various-strategies-in-playing-fixed-limit-texas-holdem/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 13:29:25 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=74 The best thing about playing fixed-limit Texas Hold’Em is that it’s made for beginners – you try to get the hang of it without breaking the bank. Because the amount that you bet into a hand is limited by the amount set on the table, you can experiment as much as you can. Still, to make the most out of the game you might want to consider having a strategy when you’re playing FL Texas Hold’Em.

First off, you should always remember to play the hands you otherwise would not play in the other types of poker with bigger money at stake. Since the limit in FL Texas Poker does not hurt the bank so much, you have that opportunity to take chances, and given the odds of the dealer not qualiying at all, you have a bigger chance of winning. So if in the other poker games you would fold if all you have as a pair or a two-pair, here in FL Texas Hold’Em you should take that chance to play the hand if you get it.

Various Strategies in Playing Fixed-Limit Texas HoldemAnother strategy would be to avoid bluffing. Since the risks for FL Texas Hold’Em are small, players usually will call you on a bigger bet, so if you don’t have the cards to back your raise up, then you might want to hold the betting and fold instead. On the other hand, if you’re sure that you have a winning hand, like when the hands that show up less often (for instance, the flush or the straight or anything higher) then play it up. Make sure the pot is raised to its maximum potential and then take home the prize when you reach the showdown.

The trick to Fixed-Limit Texas Hold’Em is in knowing when to play and when to fold. This ensures that you do get to win more games than you lose more money. When you do decide to play, you should keep on raising the bet until you reach your limit and you can no longer bet, not only so that you can get the most out of the possible pot money that you can get, but also so you can get rid of the players that do not have a rather decent hand to play and therefore increase your chances of winning. Just keep these things in mind, do the math all the time, and you just might find yourself winning big for a beginner.

Rules of Fixed-Limit Texas Hold’Em http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-fixed-limit-texas-holdem/ http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-fixed-limit-texas-holdem/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 13:26:06 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=72 A document from the Charitable Gaming Division from the government of Michigan in the United States details very well the rules of Fixed Limit Texas Hold’Em that the rest of the country actually follows. The rules are more or less uniform, with the only major variation being the amount that one has to pay for the blinds. That is determined depending on the people playing on the Rules of Fixed-Limit Texas Holdemtable and the money that they bring to the table. As for the rest, the rules are pretty much uniform for each state.

As with all games, the dealer must shuffle the deck of 52 cards before a round of Texas Hold’Em. He must then place the button in front of the player immediately to his left, and the player to the immediate left of that player is automatically the small blind. The player to the immediate left of the small blind is the big blind for that round. The dealer will move the button to the next player in a clockwise position after each round, in order for the players to take turns in being the small blind and the big blind. He then distributes the cards, starting with the small blind and ending with the player directly in front of the dealer button. As is expected, under no circumstances is a player to deal the cards to the other players.

The cards are dealt in such a way where the first hole card is dealt first to the players, then the second hole card. Betting will commence after the cards are dealt this way, and as with the other poker games, the cards must be kept within the dealer’s sight at all times by the player. Also expected is the rule that none of the players must disclose the value of their cards or give a hint of the values in any way to the dealer or to the other players. The game shall commence as is stated in the mechanics of the game, and the winner is determined by the dealer. The one with the highest hand wins, but in case of a tie, then different ways are used in order to determine the winner. If the tie is between hands with four of a kind, three of a kind, two pair or a pair, then the winner will be determined by the high card not used in the poker combination. In a case where the tie cannot be broken, the pot shall be split evenly. These are the basic rules of FL Texas Hold’Em.

Mechanics of Fixed-Limit Texas Hold’em http://www.gamblepit.net/mechanics-of-fixed-limit-texas-holdem/ http://www.gamblepit.net/mechanics-of-fixed-limit-texas-holdem/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 13:21:29 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=68 Texas Hold’em has dethroned the seven-card stud as the most popular poker game since its popularization in the 2000s because of the televised world poker games and in popular culture in general. Many movies have, since the dawn of the new millennium, revolved around the whole culture of poker, particularly Texas Hold’em, and so now it is the most popular poker game there is around the world.

Texas Hold’em is a game where, instead of being dealt individual hands, the players are dealt two hole cards which they could use to form a hand along with the community cards on the table. The person with the highest hand, of course, wins the round, and takes the pot money. In fixed-limit Texas Hold’em, a player may make the decision to bet or not to bet, but the amount that he will bet will depend on which side of the dealer he is on anMechanics of Fixed-Limit Texas Holdemd on the set amount for that table. That will be explained in a little while.

Just to explain a few things: first, the dealer is represented by a white disk called the button. The first player to the left of the button posts the small blind, and the second player to the left of the button posts the big blind. The blind, of course, is the limit of the bet on the table. So if, for example, you are playing on a table with a $1 / $2 blind, then the small blind will be the minimum amount, or $0.5, and the big blind will be $1. On to the game.

The game starts with the hole cards being dealt to the players. The players in the blinds have to place forced bets on the table so that there is always money in the pot when the cards are dealt. The player in the small blind will receive the cards first, and the player where the button is will receive the cards last. Then the betting begins with the person to the left of the big blind, and will end with the small and the big blinds. For the first two rounds you are only allowed to make the minimum limit, which in this case is $1, and for the final two rounds you can make the maximum bet, which in this case is $2. The same rule applies when one chooses to raise a bet.

The dealer then flips the next three cards face-up on the table. This set of cards, called the flop, are the community cards which are visible to everyone and will be used by the players to form a good hand. When the flop is dealt, another round of betting ensues. A player may continue to play or may fold depending on the chances his hand has in forming a good hand with the community cards. The dealer then flips another card, the turn, which makes the community cards now four cards. Another betting round takes place, and the dealer flips the last community card, the river, and a final betting round ensues. This is followed by the showdown, where the players show their hole cards and the winner is determined by who can form the highest hand with the cards they have and the community cards on the table.

This simplicity of the Texas Hold’em is what made it the popular form of poker it is today, and more and more people are playing this game every day. Professional players use the no-limit variation of this game, but for the rather cautious, you may decide to play the fixed-limit Texas Hold’em instead.

Strategic Playing of Caribbean Stud http://www.gamblepit.net/strategic-playing-of-caribbean-stud/ http://www.gamblepit.net/strategic-playing-of-caribbean-stud/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 13:17:31 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=65 Strategic Playing of Carribean StudEvery poker game has its strategies, depending on how it’s played. In the Caribbean stud, the strategy lies greatly in knowing when to play and knowing when to fold. Beginners are expected to play every hand, as they are always eager to find out what their opponents’ hands are, win or lose, but the more seasoned players do tend to think about their moves carefully before deciding to play or fold a particular round.

The first thing, and the most important thing, to remember is the odds. You have to find out what your chances are and how you can work your way around it. It’s important to remember on top of all odds that you have a fifty percent chance of getting a hand that has nothing in it at all, and that the same odds goes for the dealer: he also has a fifty percent chance of getting a hand that has nothing in it at all. This particular statistic is what other players use to justify their choice to play for the progressive jackpot: because there are so many times when the dealer will not qualify, if you get a good hand, you get paid whether or not he qualifies.

There are the other odds to remember: you can get a pair for every two hands; a two pair for every twenty-one hands; and a three of a kind for every forty-seven hands. It gets worse as the combinations get higher – your chance of getting a straight is one in 256; a flush, 1 in 526; a full house, 1 in 694. For the remaining three big combinations, the ratio makes it almost impossible for a player to hope: a four of a kind appears once every 4,167 hands; a straight flush, for every 72,202 hands; and a Royal flush, for every 649,351 hands. That is a whole lot of playing the Carribean stud before you can arrive at a Royal flush.

Given these odds, play your cards right. At the very least you can win around fifty dollars for getting the flush (remember that you need at least a flush to qualify for the progressive jackpot, which appears once in 526 hands). At most, you may not qualify for the progressive jackpot, but you could beat the dealer. Once you’ve got a pair, then the chances are in your favor that you will win against the dealer, because the chances of him getting a better hand is one in forty-seven. His chances are this slim because you have to remember the statistics above: the higher hand, a two pair, appears only once in every 21 hands.

Finally, and the simplest rule to date: if you’ve got nothing, then you better fold. With the other poker games you can bluff the other players and trick them into winning, but in this type of poker, the bluff doesn’t work because you are only playing one hand, and you’re only playing with the dealer. Because you’re only playing with the dealer, the only way you can win if you have nothing in your hand is if the dealer does not qualify, which happens only one out of three times. You have to know when to quit and when to play. A good strategy if you’re a beginner is to play when you have an Ace-King in your hand, and fold when you don’t.

Of course, you should have fun when playing this game. This is usually for the low-stakes players and is done for a little bit of fun. You may never know, you could bet on the progressive jackpot and be the one in 649,315 hands where the royal flush shows up.

Rules of Caribbean Stud http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-caribbean-stud/ http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-caribbean-stud/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 13:12:20 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=61 Rules of Carribean StudIn every poker table there is proper table etiquette: you have to be personable as possible, you have to keep your emotions to a minimum so as to avoid offending anyone, and do not forget the all-important tip so that the next time you play, you get treated by the dealers very well. However, with the Caribbean stud there are a few extra rules to keep in mind while you are playing to avoid forfeiting your game even before you decide whether you will play or you will fold.

First and foremost, a player can only wager on one hand per table. You cannot place a bet on multiple hands on the table – you bet on one and just stick to that. As for the bets, if a player decides to make the side bet for the progressive jackpot, that player is the one responsible in ensuring that he has inserted the $1 into the right slot and that the indicator light is on. It is also the player’s responsibility to let the dealer know if he qualifies for the jackpot even if the dealer’s hand does not qualify at the end of the game.

Of course, some of the rules are pretty much self-explanatory. For instance, under no circumstances is one player allowed to talk about his hand to the other players. By doing so, he immediately renders the hand dead, and all wagers that have been placed on the table are automatically forfeited. This is naturally because the game is compromised when information about the cards, true or not, is communicated in any way. On the other hand, while this offense results in the forfeiture of all bets on the table, a situation where a player has excess cards in his hand results only in a dead hand for that player only, and the bets are still on for the rest of the players. Another obvious rule is that in all games, the decision of the table and the casino supervisor is final – no one can contest that decision once a decision has been made.

The dealer will be dealt one more card only when he is dealt only four cards. Any other misdeals to the dealer will result in a dead hand for all players, and the cards will be reshuffled in order to avoid suspicion of foul play.

As for the cards dealt, a player may only touch these cards once and examine them once. Once they have placed the cards back on the table where they should be placed, they may never touch their hand again. They should also keep these cards in view of the dealer at all times. Finally, and quite an obvious rule, if a hole card is exposed before the dealer calls “No more bets”, then all hands shall be considered void.

Do keep these rules in mind in order to avoid forfeiting your bet. After all, you’re playing to win, not to lose your money just because you forgot the rules. They are easy to follow and are pretty self-explanatory so it’s best to stick to the rules to get to enjoy the game fully.

Mechanics of Caribbean Stud http://www.gamblepit.net/mechanics-of-carribean-stud/ http://www.gamblepit.net/mechanics-of-carribean-stud/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 13:06:55 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=55 Not all poker games are played with other players. Some games are played with the dealer himself, and this is a good way for the casinos to keep the money going within the system. One such poker game is the Caribbean stud. While more than one player may play on the table, these players do not play against each other; rather, they play against the house. Other than that, the mechanics of the Caribbean stud are similar to the mechanics of the five card stud poker.

The game starts with each player placing an ante equal to the minimum bet for that table. There is a spot on the blackjack-sized table where the label ante can be seen, and that is where the players place their bets until the dealer says “No more bets”. During this time of betting, each player also has the option to add an additional dollar side bet for the bonus jackpot that the game offers.

When the betting closes, an automatic shuffler deals the cards to the players. Each player receives a hand of five cards facedown, and the dealer plays a hand with four cards down and the fifth card facing up. At this stage, the players can look at their cards Mechanics of Carribean Studand decide between the two options: they can either fold or play the hand. If they fold, they forfeit the ante bet, but if they decide to play, they can call by betting with an amount twice of that of the ante bet. So if you offered an ante bet of $5, to call, you would have to bet $10. After each player has decided whether or not to play or fold, the dealer shows his cards. To be able to qualify, he has to have an Ace-King or higher. If the dealer does not qualify then the players who did not fold are paid even money for their original ante. The second bet, meanwhile, is called a push – it neither wins nor loses.

If the dealer qualifies, and your hand beats that of the dealer’s, then you get paid even money for your ante, and your bet is paid depending on the hand that you have. The table for the payment is as follows:

One pair or less: 1 to 1

Two pairs: 2 to 1

Three of a kind: 3 to 1

Straight: 4 to 1

Flush: 5 to 1

Full House: 7 to 1

Four of a Kind: 20 to 1

Straight Flush: 50 to 1

Royal Flush: 100 to 1

Moving on to the progressive jackpot. As mentioned earlier, there is an option to place a side dollar bet for the progressive jackpot. You will need to have a flush or higher to qualify for one of the bonus payouts, and for each hand starting from the flush going up, a certain amount of payout is assigned. This is not recommended by most players, however, as the odds of winning a jackpot is very slim and people feel that it is only a waste of a good dollar. If you are feeling lucky, however, one dollar could get you fifty or more if you win.

That is how you play the Caribbean stud.

How To Win In Seven-Card Stud http://www.gamblepit.net/how-to-win-in-seven-card-stud/ http://www.gamblepit.net/how-to-win-in-seven-card-stud/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 13:02:08 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=52 The casual poker players, those who play at home with their families for fun or those who go for the low-stakes games usually rely on the most popular strategy there is for poker players: the bluff. It requires a certain amount of composure, a control over your mannerisms which can give away anxiety or nervousness (or joy, if you find that you have a good hand), and a great deal of believable acting. This strategy only works for professional players if you are a professional player yourself and know exactly How To Win In Seven-Card Studwhat you are doing, but if you are someone who only plays for fun then you might want to play with people who are only casually playing as well, or you might want to think of another way to beat the professionals in order to be able to play with them.

In comes the idea of card memorization and card counting. Many casinos discourage this because they lose a lot of money over this kind of strategy, but over the years professional poker players have been using this strategy to win the big bucks. The reason behind this is that a lot of the card games in casinos are beatable with a little training of the mind to memorize and a little card-counting paired off with a combination of ratio and probability. For instance, in a game with eight players you begin the game with twenty-four cards issued to you already, eight of which are facing up already for everyone to see. You have to check the cards that have already been dealt and check your own: initially you already know the suit and the amount of the ten cards on the table – eight, for the door cards, and the two hole cards that you have. That leaves you with forty-two cards that you are not aware of, fourteen of which have been dealt to your opponents already. This is where your memorization comes in: with every card dealing, more cards are revealed, and you get a clearer picture of which cards have not been dealt yet, and so you can calculate your chances of winning or losing depending on what cards are dealt. The counting happens first, when the cards are being dealt – you have to know how many cards are remaining along with what suits have showed up already in order to be able to effectively use this as a technique in the seven-card stud – and you have to keep track of the number of the cards when people start folding as well, because your chance increases as more people fold. You have to remember what cards have been dealt already so that you know the remaining cards that have not been dealt yet or have been dealt face-down, so you know if there is any chance at all that the people you are playing with may get a higher hand than the one you have.

There are two main kinds of players who play the seven-card shot: the Bears and the Bulls. The bears are very careful, because they want to ensure that they have the winning hand first before taking any risks, and his next move always depend on the different streets and on the hand he’s got. If he knows he has a high pair, a trip, a three to a flush or three to a straight, right from the start, then he continues betting to the next streets until the end of the round. However, if he has bet in the third street and was dealt a card that did not help his hand, and noticed that one player on the table was dealt a good hand, then the bear folds without hesitation.

The bulls, meanwhile, are very aggressive. These are the players who use the bluff more often, because they realize that while their hand is important in determining whether or not they should continue betting and whether or not they might eventually win, they also realize how important it is to make your cards look good to the opponent. So these bull types often raise whenever it’s their turn to make a bet, and they often reach the “raise or fold” point of a game, which would, at best, make most of the players bluffing sweat and fold eventually, leaving the real competition. This is, of course, a very risky thing to do, and it takes skill and observation, as well as intense card memorization skills, in order to be able to pull off. However, if you are a pro and you are this type of player, then chances are you could get the people to fold even before you reach the river.

It’s up to the player to choose which strategy to use, or if he wants to use a combination of the strategies mentioned above. The most important thing to know, if you want to win, is memorizing and counting cards in order to be able to keep track and have a working idea of what your position in the game is.

Rules of Seven-Card Stud http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-seven-card-stud/ http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-seven-card-stud/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 12:57:39 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=47 Seven-Card StudThe rules of the seven-card stud are easy to understand because most of the rounds have the same rules for betting, and the rest of the procedure is pretty common in other types of poker. To review these rules: first, all players give an ante, then two hole cards and a door card are dealt to each player, and the player with the lowest door card gives the bring-in. The players start the third street, betting clockwise from the player with the lowest door card, and they are dealt another upcard each, and the betting from the fourth to the sixth street begins with the person with the highest hand. In these rounds, since there is no mandatory bet to begin the betting, a player has the following betting options: they can call, raise, fold, or check. The card dealt for the seventh street or the river is dealt facedown, and the final betting ensues, and the showdown takes place. The person with the highest hand wins the pot money.

Now let’s talk about what hands win for the seven-card stud. As with other poker games, you have the usual combinations. The lowest would be a pair, which basically is a pair of cards with the same rank; for example, a jack of hearts and a jack of spades in your hand will give you a pair. Next on that ladder is a two pair, which is as the name suggests: two pairs of pairs. Then there’s trips, or three of a kind, where you have three cards of the same rank. Next on the list would be the straight, where you have five cards of consecutive ranks but of different suits. So if you have a queen of clovers, jack of hearts, ten of clovers, nine of diamonds and eight of hearts, then you have a straight. The highest you can get is the Broadway, or the A-K-Q-J-10 combination, and the lowest is the wheel, or 5-4-3-2-A. These are the rather common things players get.

Then there are the more difficult hands to get: first, the flush, where you have five cards of the same suit. If you’ve got five cards whose suit is all diamonds, then you have a flush. Above that is the full house, which is three cards of one rank and two of another. The rule here is that the three cards you have in the full house should be higher than the three cards of another player who also has a full house for it to win. Next is the quad, or the four of a kind, where you have four cards of the same rank. Then finally, the highest of all, is the straight flush, which is basically five cards of the same suit with consecutive ranking. The highest combination you can play with your seven cards is the royal flush, wherein you have the A-K-Q-J-10 of the same suit. Keep that in mind when playing so that you do not get confused at the showdown, as well as to be able to determine which cards to play and which ones to discard in the course of the game.
As for other unspoken rules, there’s table etiquette required in playing seven-card stud – or any poker game, for that matter. Always remember that it is just a game, and that you should be as good of a sport and as personable as possible. Aside from the fact that this makes the experience more fun, and this helps you with your poker playing, it also helps in keeping you out of trouble with casino officials who will throw you out if you start trouble in one of their tables. If you’ve won a round, or several rounds, then a modest clap is acceptable. Try not to over-celebrate in front of your fellow players, as not only is this rude, it also is detrimental to your playing because they will be able to tell your emotions at that moment and can use those emotions as a vantage point for them to regain the money that they have lost. Finally, do not forget to tip the card dealer depending on the winnings you have or the typical tipping scene you have where you are playing. Try to remember these things and you’re sure to enjoy your seven-card stud experience.

Mechanics of Seven-Card Stud http://www.gamblepit.net/mechanics-of-seven-card-stud/ http://www.gamblepit.net/mechanics-of-seven-card-stud/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 12:31:37 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=37 The seven-card stud is one of the oldest forms of poker there is in the gambling world. It is known to be the most difficult to master and, therefore, the most fulfilling to beat because it demands much of a person’s ability in terms of his memory. For those with a penchant for gambling, however, this is one of those games that will definitely provide the thrill that poker players desire. The rules are quite complicated but, like any game, gets easier once you get the hang of it. This game usually has two to eight Mechanics of Seven-Card Studplayers in it, and the rules are made so that it considers the fact that towards the end of the game, a few of these players may have folded already. The players start by placing the ante, or the initial bet, which goes anywhere from one-third to one-half of the lower half of the betting limit. Say for example our limit is at $6-8, then the ante would be anywhere from $3 at most. Once this ante is placed, each player are dealt three cards. Two of the three cards are called the hole cards, and they are dealt facing down. The third card, known as the door card, is dealt to each player facing up for everyone to see. The player with the lowest value door card has to make a mandatory bet called a bring-in. The value of the bring-in is about the same as the ante, about a third to a half of the betting limit, so let’s say the one with the lowest card in our game offers a $3 bring-in.

When the bring-in has been made, a betting round ensues, known as the third street. In this betting round, as in all poker games, a player has three options: First, the player can call, or match the bet; second, the player can raise, or add a higher bet, or the player can fold. The betting must be made in increments equivalent to the lowest limit of the game, so here it’s in increments of $6. After this round of betting, another card is dealt to the players and another round of betting, the fourth street, ensues. The one who will begin the betting in this round is the one with the highest hand. The betting works the same way as in the previous betting, with one major difference: since there is no mandatory bet here, as there was in the third street, a player has the option to check – that is, to knock on the table to pass the round without betting or folding.

After the fourth street betting, the players are dealt yet again with another card, and the next set of betting, the fifth street, takes place. The betting rules are the same as the previous round, but the amount changes. Instead of using the lowest limit of the game, which in our case is $6, the players have to bet in increments of the highest limit of the game, which is $8. The same structure is followed when the players finish the fifth street and are dealt another card for the sixth street: the limit remains to be the highest limit, and the first one to bet is the one with the highest hand on the table. After this round, a final card is dealt to the remaining players, face-down, and a final round of betting begins, which is called either the seventh street or, as it is more popularly known the river. After this round of betting, the remaining players who have not folded must compare the hands that they have, and the player with the highest five-card hand wins the round. This is called the showdown. The one with the highest five-card hand gets the pot money, and that ends one round of the seven-card stud.

Rules of Five-Card Stud http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-five-card-stud/ http://www.gamblepit.net/rules-of-five-card-stud/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 12:15:29 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=34 Below are the basic rules when playing Five-card Stud:rules five card

Dealing
The dealer distributes two cards to each player, one at a time . The first card faces down (pocket card) while the second one faces up (door card). When there is a bring in, the one who shall initiate the betting is the player with lowest door card – the second card that has been dealt, visible for all the players around the table. If two players hold a tie for lowest because they possess the same number, the suit shall resolve the issue.

Betting
After the two cards have been distributed, the first round of betting begins. The player who has the lowest card is obligated to bring in a forced bet amounting to half of the minimum betting limit. If there is no bring in, then the person with the highest card or the person to the dealer’s left can open betting.
Raising
A player is allowed to bet a maximum of four times. The first bet is the opening, and then there is an allowance of three raises. When a player has reached the maximum betting, he has the option to call (meet the raise of his opponent and stay in the pot) or to fold (surrender).

Third Street
For the third card, the dealer distributes one more card to each of the players each one facing up. After all cards have been dealt, the high hand may either check (pass) or bet. The opener may bet the lower betting limit or the higher one, this is up to their discretion and there is no forced betting.
Fourth and Fifth Streets
The dealer distributes another card to each player during each of the rounds, cards facing up. The fourth card, called the “turn” and the last card, called the “river” are both dealt facing up and the first to act during betting rounds that follow is always the player who gets the higher hand from the present deal.

Showdown
As soon as all the bets are in and the raises have been resolved, the remaining players reveal their cards in what is known as the showdown. The opening player is obligated to show his pocket cards. The remaining players may opt to fold without showing cards, or challenge the opener – however only the dealer may credibly announce the player with the best hand.

Five-Card Stud Mechanics http://www.gamblepit.net/five-card-stud-mechanics/ http://www.gamblepit.net/five-card-stud-mechanics/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 12:13:11 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=32 Basic Mechanics of Five-Card Stud

The five card stud is a game composed of ten maximum players, five maximum cards per deal, five maximum cards seen, four betting rounds and no wild cards. First, the dealer gives each player one card at a time dealt face down and then he does the same thing again except during the second round of distribution the cards are dealt facing the ceiling for the whole table to see. After the first two cards are given to each player in the table, the first betting round commences. In some plays, the first person to act on the bet is the player with the highest card facing up. However, some casinos and game rooms prefer to have the player on the left of the dealer to act. Once all bets are in for the first round, the dealer once again deals one card to each player facing up. This occurs two more times, each round of dealt cards followed by three more rounds of betting. When the last round of betting ends and all players have settled, the show of cards is done and the player with the best hand wins the pot.

This is generally how five card stud is played but there may be slightly different variations performed on the discretion of the betting room mechanics, tournament rules, or casino regulations. The “first to act” rule is an example of such. Another variation consists of what is known as a bring in, when there is a forced bet collected before the first round of betting. The amount is collected from the player with the lowest card showing face up since he or she is the one who is most likely to fold out of the game. A bring in is different from an ante because unlike an ante, the bring in only requires a forced bet from one person. As with any game of poker, the players may opt to check, call, fold, or raise during each round of betting to make things more interesting.

Universal Rules of Poker http://www.gamblepit.net/universal-rules-of-poker/ http://www.gamblepit.net/universal-rules-of-poker/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 11:59:46 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=30 Poker rules differ from poker room to poker room and from one casino to another. Fortunately, most poker rules are universal and the variation of rules is usually under the management’s discretion and site guidelines. Changes in rules include allowing or restricting the usage of wild cards, high- or low-rank pot splits, high-low pot splitting as well as a variety of colorful tie breaking methods.

The main theory to remember in poker is that one gains whenever he plays the game the way he would when he can see his poker2opponent’s cards. At the same time, when your opponent plays his cards in a different way from how he would if he can see your cards, you have the power to gain because you can easily bluff your way through the hand. A lot of people live by this golden rule.

In order for a more assured victory in poker, one must make sure his odds of winning are better than his pot odds. For example, if a player’s odds of winning is 4-to-1 (20% chance of winning), and if he plays the pot five times, his expected return is to simply break even; winning once for every four losses.

There are no rules against deception in poker – in fact, this is poker’s lifeline and the source of many-a-player’s victories. Bluffing consists of betting small when one has a good hand, as well as pretending to have a bad or mediocre hand. Why? So that the players in the table won’t fold right away, and one can psychologically convince them into betting more, hence making the pot (and one’s victory) bigger.

The hard and fast rules of positions in poker is that the player to act first is the player to the left of the small blind. The positions of the players can create strategic situations for others. Acting when not in turn can cause the disqualification of a player from the round, or even a penalty, because the chances that such actions are crass bluffing are greater than the chances of an honest mistake.

Raising, folding and calling can all be done when it is one’s turn to act. Each action has a different advantage depending on the situation at hand. This is where bluffing and deception can take place. Folding is like a security technique for your cash. Calling may be done as a bluff to keep players in a game and having one’s hand underestimated. The most lucrative technique however, is raising. Raising has so many uses and can easily allow the player to sniff out who has good cards and who has weak hands, eradicating bluffers.

Five-card Draw Variants http://www.gamblepit.net/five-card-draw-variants/ http://www.gamblepit.net/five-card-draw-variants/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 11:37:05 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=27 Variants of Five-Card Draw

Five Card Draw poker has plenty of variations such as Jackpots, Double Draw, Lowball, and the One-Eyed Jack. However, the two most popular and most widely played variants are the ones that shall be discussed in this section: The Acey-Deucey and the Heinz 57.

Heinz 57

The Heinz 57 is an offshoot of five card draw. In the Heinz 57, all fives and sevens are “wild cards”, and that’s where the name comes from. During the initial stages of each hand, each player shells out an equal amount of money. The money is then added to the pot. As with the five card draw, the dealer then proceeds to distribute five cards, one at a time and face down, to the players on the table. Betting occurs after the cards are dealt. During the betting round, the players may either (a) Call or meet the current bet on the table, (b) Raise the amount of the current bet and the overall value of staying in the pot – this means that players who want to play their hands must call the raise or last but not the least, they may (c) Fold, which is basically choosing to step back from the hand and wait for another deal. After the betting round, players have the option to get rid of up to three cards and replace them with other cards from the deck – get a new deal. The twist here is that if a player have a five or seven, which are the wild cards of Heinz 57, they can exchange up to four cards from the deck!

Acey-Deucey
Another exciting variation of the five card draw poker is called Acey-Deucey. In this game, there are a whopping eight wild cards, making it an exciting one for many. In Acey-Deucey, aces and deuces (or the number two card) are the wild cards. After the deal and the first round of betting, players have the option of giving up a maximum of three cards in their hand which they may opt to exchange for three new cards from the deck. Just like the mechanics of Heinz 57, if a player was given the special card/s in their hand, they may opt to exchange four cards. In Acey-Deucey this special cards are the aces and the deuces. After each exchange, a round of betting begins.

Five-card Draw Mechanics http://www.gamblepit.net/five-card-draw-mechanics/ http://www.gamblepit.net/five-card-draw-mechanics/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 11:06:53 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=17 The five card draw is a game composed of six maximum players, five maximum cards per deal, nine maximum cards seen, two betting rounds and no wild cards. The dealer gives each player five cards one at a time, and dealt face down. What’s left of the deck is put aside, usually protected by placing a chip or some sort of marker on top of it. After the cards are opened by the players, the ante is formed as the players initiate the betting. The first person to act is the player to the dealer’s left. He may opt to bet or pass. If he passes, the betting proceeds with the player to his left, and he too may either bet or pass as there is no forced betting with the five card draw. If all the players pass, then the dealer shall gather all the cards and perform a fresh deal.Poker

After the first round of betting ends, each player may draw up to three cards and four if the show an ace of any suit. Again, the betting is opened by the player to the left of the dealer. After all bets are in and the dealer has closed further betting, the show of cards occurs and the high hand (best hand with a combination of 5 cards, utilizing all cards he or she has drawn and was dealt with) takes the pot.

Although there are minor differences in the game play when comparing to other variations of traditional poker, the most easily noticeable one being the lack of small and big blinds, hence eradicating forced betting as well as the lack of “common cards”, the mechanics of draw poker are very similar. There is a betting round, draw, card replacement, betting order, raising, folding, passing and of course there is also the showdown.

Basic Mechanics of Poker http://www.gamblepit.net/basic-mechanics-of-poker/ http://www.gamblepit.net/basic-mechanics-of-poker/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 10:56:11 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=9 Poker games differ in how many cards are dealt, how the pot is won, how hands are formed, how many rounds of betting is permitted, etc. There are many different kinds of poker games but they all revolve around similar elements. The first round of betting in poker always involved a forced bet among two people- the big blind, who gives the full minimum amount of a bet as well as the small blind, who gives half of the full minimum bet amount. The main reason why there are required betters is for the round to commence – to get the ball rolling.poker4

After the first round is set and the bets of both small and big blinds are placed into the pot, the dealer then proceeds to distribute each player’s cards. By default, the big blind is in the game and can only fold when someone raises the minimum bet and he does not wishes to call the raise. The small blind needs to double his initial bet in order to participate in the following round, so applies to all the players – or they may all opt to fold. To fold means to voluntarily surrender the round and whatever money has initially been contributed. Folding is done to prevent a larger loss, while raising is done in order to raise the pot, “bully” players into folding or quickly buy a player out.

Every time the dealer flops the “common cards” which everyone can use to form a combination composed of a certain number of cards, there is an opportunity to raise the bet, call the flop, or to simply fold and walk away. It is interesting to note that poker is just as much a mind game of Math, probability and psychology as it is a gambling game for entertainment.

History of Poker http://www.gamblepit.net/history-of-poker/ http://www.gamblepit.net/history-of-poker/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 10:38:36 +0000 Admin http://www.gamblepit.net/?p=6 The game of online poker has been gaining popularity since the 90’s when cyberspace and virtual reality entered this world. It has so many advantages – accessible, convenient, safe and universal. It makes you wonder though, what are the exact origins of this CSL079popular game? Unfortunately the answer to this questions is lost in time, but there are theories and historical records of its birth – some more believable than others. Some people believe it originated from the Chinese dice game, while others say it was derived from the game of Domino. Still others insist that the game came from Persian (“Pulkra”) or French (“Bouillotte”) origins. The most widely accepted historical account of poker, however, is that the game was born in the United States during the early 19th century.

During the 15th century, the world of card games had made a lot of progress, and plenty interesting ones were invented. Such games had mechanics that involved the players to guess what cards the other players were holding as well as the occasional obligation to bluff and distract. The rules of the ancestral games not only involved bluffing and guessing, they also involved creating card combinations from the cards that have been distributed to a player by the dealer. Risks were calculated, and it was this fear of winning or losing and the uncertainty of cards to be drawn that drew people to enjoy card games. All these contributed to the game of poker which we all know about today.

Poker initially started out with a deck of only 20 cards and a table of four players. Firs played in New Orleans, each player was given five cards and they would bet on who had the best hand. The state port had plenty of Frenchmen settling in America, which leads scholars to believe that the word “poker” came from the French word “Poque” which itself was derived from the German word “Pochen”. Eventually, this crowd-drawing game evolved into the lucrative, two-colored, four suited, 52-piece card game that has gained worldwide fame.
